  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Tomorrow I will film myself doing backhands with whip and see if they change. The shot I took pictures of has basically no whip. Perhaps that is the case.
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Something like this. I am trying to contact at an angle closer to the 3rd picture than the 2nd picture. However, the lack of spin and the still frames don't lie: it's flat.

@NextLevel Mind if I borrow some of that lost backhand once you find it? :o I have a bad habit of changing my angle from nearly open to more closed on my backhand, and it doesn't always feel like I'm doing it so much. It produces a flatter hit and it's not what I want, so I want to get rid of...
  4. Slow down a blade or speed up the rubbers?

Maybe not relevant, but the kind of advice I was given is to get a pretty slow, good control and spin blade as a beginner, with some slow rubber on it, and then upgrade the rubber to something more modern and faster as time goes on.

Didn't really do much anything today, left early. My left thigh is acting up and I don't feel like putting weight on it, so why train the bad habits. I think tomorrow I will just do some shadow footwork and film it. I have somewhat of an idea of what I want kind of movement I want: I've just...
  6. Friendly match Video, feedback please!

@UpSideDownCarl I never said he hasn't improved. His latest forehand is quite good really. Especially compared to what he was posting a year ago. Relative to me, he has improved way more IMO. For how he trains, for his supposed one day a week of playing, it's great. I'm just giving my view as...
  7. Friendly match Video, feedback please!

Siva, at least you're out there and playing. I know from experience that it's hard to improve in a situation like this, or at least it's hard to make real big leaps. Your opponent can't really spin at all, so it will be a different game when you go against someone who you keep whiffing your...

OSPH, interesting idea about needing more precision. Does the sweetspot of a blade change linearly or non-linearly, or much at all, when the blade face changes size and shape?
  9. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Took some more video today. A lot of school staff people walked past the camera, so in the interest of their privacy, and because nothing can really even change in one day, I won't post it. I thought I was somewhat low enough, but I was just tired and feeling like my legs were bent and I was...

Once I'm a solid 3000+ USATT player, thanks to my national issue underwear, socks, and wristband, not even 19 points can help you my friend.
  11. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I captured nearly an hour and a half of footage today. I have condensed the first 7 minutes or so of this video, but I fear to edit the rest as YouTube's editor is very unstable. I'm running somewhat short on time today, so I can't edit an hour+ of footage. I might do it later, with proper...

Gotta keep that topspin low somehow...
  13. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

What is the purpose of that tactical head pitching?
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Tomorrow, I am going to do the following: I will set up my usual phone in a better filming location as suggested here, using my newly developed, highly advanced propping technology. I will also prop up another phone I have and film from the angle I usually film from. Then I will...

@NextLevel In the interest of time-economy, I believe I understand what you mean. Maybe my time and energy used in improving my footwork will be better spent in improving my push or serve, in the long run. We only have a finite amount of time and energy, and it can be used inefficiently. Is...

@UpSideDownCarl @NextLevel Just because I am working on my issues does not mean they will fix themselves for the next video, or the video after that. They will be issues for a long time even if I am working on them. I can't just decide one day that all of my missed 3rd balls will stop and all...
  17. how to return top side spin ball serve (illustration)

How is that aiming done? By applying force towards the direction you want to go, changing the angle slightly, or both? I do understand that as you apply counter-spin to the ball ie: topspin against topspin, things get a bit dynamic.
  18. how to return top side spin ball serve (illustration)

You understood the diagram. Orange is the serve, and it's reverse pendulum. Or something like a machine feeding pure sidespin. Say you receive some super heavy sidespin and you theoretically want it to hit the middle of the table roughly. Would the return be something like this? If so, I can...
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

There's only a select few people I've played who can really show me my weaknesses, and I've always got balls blasted past me after a forehand from my forehand corner. It has been too weak because I was late to it, or things just weren't timed right. I've been working to increase the quality of...
