  1. Hip sway back and forth during forehand

Serve practice is probably what I've done the most. I can't know if my serves are relatively high level because I've never had them returned by someone who could be considered relatively high level, but I'm sure they'd bring a surprise to anyone anywhere near my general level. I'm starting to...
  2. Hip sway back and forth during forehand

Hah. I guess. Although I am making it sound like all I do is shadow strokes and watch videos all day, (Which is not far from what I'm doing right now) the main focus is on the strokes. A lot of these problems fix themselves with practice. How can you know if your torso rotation is effective if...
  3. Hip sway back and forth during forehand

You're right about working out the back: it feels like a bottleneck. Legs and core are developed enough to let me get low: only the back gets stressed after some time. I actually found that these strokes feel better when low. I think I will make it a habit to always stay that low because I...
  4. Hip sway back and forth during forehand

It seems to be the issue rotating on the feet instead of rotating the body. I can feel it now when I got up and compared. Took me a second, but I can feel what you mean. I don't think this is exactly what I do in games, but it's the first thing I do when I shadow and I couldn't understand why...
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

There it is. That's what I was looking for, and that's a damn good post. I've understood technique a bit more after watching lower level people, but I will take a good look at the people you specifically mentioned to see what exactly you mean. Crisan I already know, and surprisingly I didn't...
  6. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

So what point are you trying to make? That a seemingly "arm loop" has a lot of legs and other components in it that affect the quality? If you haven't noticed, none of my posts where I ask questions like this reflect my knowledge at all. I'm not trying to claim anything: I'm asking to see what...
  7. Hip sway back and forth during forehand

I haven't been able to touch a table for nearly a month now. That's why I can waste all my time doing spin exercises and stuff like this. ;)
  8. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

So his mechanics are good enough that he isn't losing all the power he is generating with just mostly his arm? It flows into the ball well enough? Perhaps a good example of that would be your own loop that is mostly arm yet powerful?
  9. Hip sway back and forth during forehand

Ah, yes. It's not always this bad (I might be exaggerating it because I mentioned it) but that's about it. Hips are moving in a circle, off center. If I don't try to be strict with my form.
  10. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I think I have an idea of what you mean, but do continue. What exactly do you mean with transmitting power to the arm?
  11. Hip sway back and forth during forehand

Hey. I've noticed that I've taken it a habit to sway slightly back and forth while rotating. It's not extreme, but I feel that I'm stressing my lower back more than I could be, and I'm pretty sure I'm losing energy that I could be transferring into the ball. I understand that I'll probably...
  12. How to get doublebounce spinny backhand, forehand like Tiago Aplonia away from table

I've hit double bounce shots around the net and admittedly onto my own side when screwing around, and they were indeed topspin opposed to backspin. But those were performed from over the table and close to it at a pretty low speed. The ball basically dropped down from the racket. The only way...
  13. How to get doublebounce spinny backhand, forehand like Tiago Aplonia away from table

That's backspin on the ball, isn't it? I'd imagine if you just aim it right on the edge and put enough spin on it, it'll float and skip. Don't ask me how exactly you're gonna accomplish it though. Having the touch of a pro player probably helps.
  14. Crazy Siva vs Fan Zhendong Unbelievable Roller Shot Challenge

Siva, stop. You're starting to sound like me. ;)
  15. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

@NextLevel I saw the Boogar video as recommendation. He did well and he's improved a bit. If he learned to rotate the body better he'd be killing everyone with third balls. @Boogar ;)
  16. Discussion :Short Term and Long Term goal in your Table Tennis

Short term: Transfer all the great habits I've learned from practice recently into all my games. Long term: Get past the "kiddy steps" stage where you're just barely learning the basics.
  17. Crazy Siva vs Fan Zhendong Unbelievable Roller Shot Challenge

Carl, he is German. The concept of humor is entirely foreign to him. ;)
  18. Crazy Siva vs Fan Zhendong Unbelievable Roller Shot Challenge

Successful or unsuccessful, at least he posted a video of himself doing them. Obviously this is not supposed to be a real comparison. Even then, I guess some people will get insulted when you put your attempts anywhere near what happened. That shot is quite special.
  19. Rebulding Fundamental strokes for my game play

You're getting it. Stroke is still too big, but you're getting it. Slow down, and relax. Keep your back neutral, slightly leaned forward without arching it at any part, and just rotate. Try to take away the unnecessary movements of the body for now and fix them up later. Otherwise, good job...
  20. Rebulding Fundamental strokes for my game play

Carl is right in saying the first step is not easy. Being a player without a coach or expert partner, I know this well. I still remember what I had been doing with my arm for nearly two years when I decided to take a good look at my technique. Now it's extremely obvious what was wrong and I...
