  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

High level pros have an astoundingly good attack. It's quite a rarity to beat them with lobbing, and they're more consistent than inconsistent in their smashes and loops against high balls. Why would you sweat it if you miss a high ball, when even players of that caliber miss high balls...
  2. Rebulding Fundamental strokes for my game play

As a sidenote to this, everyone here should watch Ping Pong if they haven't. Free on Crunchyroll, and there's no need for eyepatches and stump legs either.
  3. Rebulding Fundamental strokes for my game play

Well damn, now I want a Ping Pong and One Punch Man crossover. Why isn't this being funded, again? @NextLevel I can imagine Lebesson's stroke is very easy on the shoulder. What do you feel are the main differences technically, from "traditional" technique?
  4. The ghost serve by João Monteiro!

Something strange going on in the background. Is this the so called "special training"?

Your phone first got stolen, then it broke as well?
  6. Dealing with short, fairly high balls that appear half long

Carl, NL, don't worry, I'm not mad. Your advice is good and your urging for a video is appropriate. The biggest offender for giving me these kinds of balls is my regular partner, so when we play again and I film from a potentially better spot, you will be seeing a lot of this. I won't be able to...
  7. Dealing with short, fairly high balls that appear half long

@UpSideDownCarl Yanking his chain? Are you implying that I'm joking around and just trolling? If you're going to think like that and post based on that thought, you shouldn't post. I don't make threads for that purpose.
  8. Dealing with short, fairly high balls that appear half long

Carl, NL, you're indeed right in saying that my issue is not what people think it is, or what I say it is. I say it's a technique problem, but it's just an issue of my overall loop stroke not being complete. I don't have a particularly good loop against no-spin or high balls, and most of these...
  9. Dealing with short, fairly high balls that appear half long

Carl, where the **** is this thread going? Well, to answer your question as to why I "try" to take short balls from under the table. I've taken it a habit to wait for the ball a bit longer than comfortable and trying to brush it and take it down onto the table with spin, because I had major...
  10. Dealing with short, fairly high balls that appear half long

I doubt I'll even make it to take it off the bounce, and it was just a typo. Top of the bounce, yeah. I've found I screw this up unless I spot it coming a mile out and really violently jump at it to go and get it as soon as it leaves the racket. I really need to improve my in-out footwork, so...
  11. Dealing with short, fairly high balls that appear half long

Yes, that's what I mean. Exactly like looping a fairly high and short/half long no-spin serve over the table. I get better success if I take it very early and nearly jump into the ball. Think of Ma Lin doing forehand flipkills, but not so exaggerated. That's what I want to strive for?
  12. Blade weight

I don't have a lot of experience with equipment, but I prefer a heavy blade overall, with weight a little bit forward. Although I'm yet to play with a properly made heavy blade with most of the weight on the handle, like Der_Echte's monster.
  13. Dealing with short, fairly high balls that appear half long

@songdavid98 I lack the confidence to produce a strong loop onto balls that are right on the edge. Although with a more forearm oriented, very forward loop somewhere between a counterloop and forehand flip, I can spin it and get it over somewhat satisfyingly, albeit without pace. Is a shot like...
  14. Dealing with short, fairly high balls that appear half long

Hey. A ball I somewhat struggle with is the occasional short, high ball that barely hits the edge. I don't get these too often when playing people my level, but against worse players, against whom I use less speed and spin, they're more common. You see similar stuff even in high level play, but...

Your forehand is most likely a lot better than mine, so take this with a grain of salt, but it looks like you're not really extending the hip/pushing off the ground with the back leg. Maybe because of the kind of balls the robot is feeding you?
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

3:14, you didn't deserve that. Someone needs to tell him that even table tennis umpires will fault you for serving so much outside of the white line.
  17. Working on my FH Side Spin Loop Video

You're probably not gonna want to keep these short: you probably mean low. Have a friend feed a ball to you. It's easier that way, I've found. The way I practiced is getting a sidespin loop fed to me from crosscourt, and counterlooping it wider. It's easier if your partner is consistent so you...
  18. Nexy Karis rubber first impressions

If they redirected all those sales $$$$$ from private "Palm Frond" purchases into product development, we'd have a Tenergy killer!
  19. Rebulding Fundamental strokes for my game play

Two likes for NL's comment on the serves and returns you get. Hell, three. I can still somewhat remember my days where my game had practically no safe attacking strokes and I just did stuff like this all day. My serve was too high level for my opposition, so I got a high ball on pretty much...
