  1. Dilemma with Random-MultiBall

Here are a couple of things you can try. The first one is related to an idea that I am trying to implement recently is to shadow the shot you would have taken even if the opponent misses the return. It doesn't apply here, but why not keep on playing until your coach stops, assuming that the...
  2. Some Inspiration for Forehand Players

The problem is the way trolls operate sometimes - this is why trying to make correct connections is important. Ad hominem is important when dealing with logic but unfortunately, life is not logic. In practical terms, it is very important to show the effectiveness of what you are preaching and...
  3. Some Inspiration for Forehand Players

If I wrote a post like his and everyone jumped on me, I would be apologizing. Just saying. It's very simple - if something is unkind, you don't have to sugar coat it, but you have to make a connection before saying it or not say it at all.
  4. Some Inspiration for Forehand Players

You make all kinds of assumptions in there - have you seen my coach? As in the coach who made me USATT 2000? He currently is rated officially USATT 1700 - because of his physical appearance, most people do not even take him seriously as a TT thinker until they see his students. He is best...
  5. Some Inspiration for Forehand Players

IT should really be mandatory for people to post video of their play before commenting on other people's strokes.
  6. Some Inspiration for Forehand Players

I am going to use this video a lot going forward - thanks.
  7. Some Inspiration for Forehand Players

He won the Westchester final this January.
  8. Some Inspiration for Forehand Players

I don't think it is harder but I agree that both go together in producing the results. If you have trained as much as those guys have, you get very good at those things. And of course, we now have TTEdge software to help us all ;).

Many of us make unconscious grip changes between strokes, Carl. When you are off the table, you anticipate the ball properly and have time to consciously switch so to speak. Heck, you may even adjust your body position unconsciously to compensate even more for the shot direction. None of that...
  10. Some Inspiration for Forehand Players

That's a pretty physical stroke - it would have been better to show the stroke from behind so people can see how low he is and how much power he is getting from his lower body and core. IF you can consistently put that much into your stroke, you should get similar results. Most of us don't...

By the grip, I meant keeping your wrist hooked ;). But revisit how you hold your paddle as well as that might be influencing it more than you think it does. I have had some success holding the paddle like this - I will make a better video on it sometime like Ben Larcombe's:

I took the whip off to get the paddle orientation right. If I use whip, my default is to hold the paddle more vertically like Carl. So I am trying to still have the top of the paddle pointing forward largely throughout the serve while having a loose wrist for whip. May post something tomorrow...

IMHO, for you, it's largely the grip on that forehand. It's set up in a way that gives you good hook but it locks the wrist a bit more than some people think. IF you were a full bodied looping player, you could probably get away with it. What you do with your wrist and what Brett does are not...

You paid for the camp so he had better ;).

The Camera lens angle on those things is too small so the camera has to be really far back to get a wide angle. This camera more likely doesn't have a flash drive or a micro flash drive either. That's why I prefer my Sony - I can load up on files with reckless abandon.

Forehand is looking good. It is only going to get better - just play more over the topspin ball, but even this is a good gap from what you had just a month ago - great progress. Maybe the next time we play, I probably won't be able to let you play forehand third ball.
  17. backhand with forehand side (orthodox grip)

Yeah, most people who don't like those styles tend to struggle against them. In the end, it's up to the player holding the bat to have skills. Danny Seemiller has an incredibly spinny forehand loop. The kind of thing that you have to block or play against to see how slow and spinny it is.

I hope people are still playing the App and have downloaded the last updates. The BH module is a nightmare compared to the forehand module.
  19. Looking for a device for recording training and games

Looks similar to a CX330 - may be a minor difference here and there, but I wouldn't be savvy enough to tell without having seriously compared the cameras.
  20. Looking for a device for recording training and games

Any of the newer phones/note books from Samsung/Google/Motorola or even an Ipad/I-phone are fine. That said, I use a camcorder. 1) I don't agree on the 60 fps. I do most of my recording at 30 fps and am pretty satisfied with it. If I really need to review something in exquisite detail, I can...
