  1. Chinese Trials For WTTTC 2016

I'm a little surprised that Lin Gaoyuan is in this - he must have had some good results somewhere recently. Obviously, we know ML, FZD, XX and ZJK will make the team. This is really about position 5, which FB had the last time.
  2. Do 'er AGAIN

I gave you a template but I must also warn you - some guy in Philly who frequents my club late at night is working on your serve. And if he learns it, it might not be fun for you to use it anymore (or it may). I heard he can't read spin, but I manaegd to get some video of his working on your...
  3. Which poly ball should you choose?

Well, I have usually used the Kinson 1*, but I am sure the Easy balls are more durable and play better. I am buying a set so that I will label them and use them for my coaching - it was fun to use them at LYTTC.
  4. 5ply vs 7ply

All other things being equal, 7 plies tend to be stiffer and are designed to be so. Stiffer often means faster (quicker rebound, less dwell or vibration on contact). Plastic balls are slower so you may want a faster blade, depending on how you play, but there are fast 5 plies as well as fast 7...
  5. modern backhand and flicking over the table

I've found that it is a largely a matter of personal taste and I have heard other players disagree with William. If you prefer to play "continue the spin strokes", you find regular sidespin easier. If you prefer to play "against the spin strokes", you find reverse sidespin easier.

  8. Which poly ball should you choose?

The Weener ball is fastest. It is 8-9 on your scale for speed. Th ball is durable but it is liable to getting dented and is smoother. The roundness is pretty good, and I would give it 7 or 6.75 for durability only because it goes out of round if dented on a hard hit, while I would personally...
  9. Which poly ball should you choose?

This is because you like "seamed" ball behavior, and there is nothing wrong with that. But the DHS balls fail the bounce height test so badly that I cannot stand them. After playing shortly too, they start going out of round and start wobbling in the air. Ever since we went to plastic, I...
  10. modern backhand and flicking over the table

It is. The problem is that when you do, you are still over the table and are vulnerable to a fast block. If the serve is low, the height you have to generate to get the ball over interferes with how hard you can spin the ball. Also, the backspin forces a shot that that clearly has a topspin...
  11. The Advanced Response Blade - The Future of Table Tennis Now! - by Anthony.R.Brown

I was actually referring to the blade, but I see now what the blade is called ARB. Did you take a class in business or trade school recently? Testing some sales techniques on the internet to see the power of positive thinking?
  12. The Advanced Response Blade - The Future of Table Tennis Now! - by Anthony.R.Brown

Well, what leagues have you played in? What is your tournament record? If you can't answer those questions, you are not as long standing a player as anyone. Maybe at the basement level, but that is not the level most players here are interested in.
  13. Do 'er AGAIN

Yes. I actually look more like a conventional player than I did a year ago. A year ago, it was backhand serve, backhand loop, backhand smash, backhand block, forehand only for stray balls, hard third balls and necessary shots. I did a lot of forehand work to balance out my game. But I try...
  14. Do 'er AGAIN

Ditto - in fact, where have I seen the idea of writing about a process to rebuild one's forehand before... oh, I remember reading about it here: http://ooakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=27371 It's very easy for people to look at what I do and assume that I don't know my flaws. But I do - I...

Der_Echte, You post too much common sense. Way too much. For this ARB joker, that ship set sail a long time ago. I will say this for a fact - no one who plays high level TT will underestimate the challenge of coming to a forum to convince experienced players, especially ones like those who...
  16. The Advanced Response Blade - The Future of Table Tennis Now! - by Anthony.R.Brown

So you come here without any evidence whatsoever of how your blade plays other than pictures and words, make claims about how great it is, and you expect that people will treat you with respect and aren't ready to accept that longstanding experienced players will find things you say somewhat...

But you quoted and responded to an earlier post of his - how could that have been his first contact with you?
  18. Do 'er AGAIN

Next time, I will secretly leave the camera on all the time and see what DerEchte does... As for the comments about my issues with OX pips players, anyone can read between the lines and see that DerEchte plays 2000 pips players like he is a 2200 player. I play all styles like I am a 2000...
