  1. My Xiom Axelo setup

Thanks for the compliments. Yes, the forehand was the stroke I rebuilt most recently and I try to pound it hard just to see how far I can go with it while still spinning the ball - in my club, the players I am trying to beat don't respect good spin, they abuse it. My backhand, I just can't...
  2. My Xiom Axelo setup

Yes, composite doesn't always mean faster. Schlager by the way, used a Primorac Carbon. To be honest, I don't consider ALC blades like Viscaria, TBS, TB-ALC, IF ALC etc. to be OFF blades - I actually consider them attempts to recreate the OFF- experience but with less vibration and more long...
  3. My top all wood blades.

    Bullseye!!!
  4. My top all wood blades.

Carl, I agree with you that there is more to it than that. I gave away my Primorac OFF-, my first real blade. I tried it with different rubbers looking for the magic combo when I became a better player, but whether it was the flare handle or the feeling, I never liked it. Now look at all the...
  5. High throw vs low throw rubber (high / low arc) thoughts

BTW, does Der_Echte look like Benny Hill or am I overthinking this?
  6. High throw vs low throw rubber (high / low arc) thoughts

To be fair, many of those players developed their instincts and strokes back in the Waldner/Appelgren/Kong/Gatien etc. days so things like over the table backhands or some modern serves may have passed them by. In fact, there is nothing I enjoy more than playing some of those players because...
  7. My Xiom Axelo setup

To me, anyone who is using an Axelo or Schlager Carbon etc. has virtually given up on serious table tennis unless they play a very specialized style extremely well. Yes, I know that's not 100% right, but you get my point. Someone who wants to build their overall game should never use such blades.
  8. My top all wood blades.

All these blades are jokers when compared to a Yasaka Extra. On a more serious note, it is a mistake to think too seriously in terms of branded blades, IMO, when it comes to all wood. The classic constructions tend to play fairly similar and are all good with a few subtle differences in handle...
  9. High throw vs low throw rubber (high / low arc) thoughts

This is the one sport where a ball slapping player whose rating is below 1400 on his best day lectures players who are USATT 2000+ on how looping should work. Love it.
  10. High throw vs low throw rubber (high / low arc) thoughts

The return of the ball slapper!!!! We have missed you. Men, those people must be crazy to get autographs from a ball slapper - if only they knew...:p
  11. Ban Junk Rubbers in Table Tennis!

Sorry, but I like putting heavy topspin on the ball. And that is never going to change.
  12. Ban Junk Rubbers in Table Tennis!

I like putting heavy topspin on the ball!!!
  13. Fan Zhendong uses Viscaria in China Open 2015

So why is there a Nexy blade in your signature? Doing some advertising for NexyUSA, are you Carl? The goon squad is coming for you if you are not using that blade and it is in your equipment along with the perfect blade for you...
  14. Ban Junk Rubbers in Table Tennis!

I don't think he did either of those things though I hear that some posters (I don't know their names) will never forgive him because he supported the two color rule.
  15. Ban Junk Rubbers in Table Tennis!

Because you "rev"-er his multitudinous contributions to US Table tennis that have placed him in the hall of fame. That's pretty obvious.
  16. Ban Junk Rubbers in Table Tennis!

Larry Hodges actually saved TT and is now one of the best and most informed bloggers on the internet. So true.
  17. Ban Junk Rubbers in Table Tennis!

"but i laike putting hevvy topspin on da ball!!!"
  18. Ban Junk Rubbers in Table Tennis!

This is the greatest TT VIDEO of ALL TIME! ROFLMAO!
  19. Who will China represent at the Rio Olympics 2016?

Carl, It is likely that only two players will be eligible to go for the qualifiers anyways. IF they are lucky, 3, like the Baku European or the Panam games. My guess right now is that ML and XX are the leaders in the singles. FZD will likely be third wheel. ZJK has a lot to prove.
  20. Der_Echte has moved to Virginia DC area

You have about 5-6 *fulltime* clubs within an hour to an hour and a half from each other. All serious training centers. The TT is much better than what you had. 1. MDTTC, Gaithersburg 2. Club Joola, Rockville 3. SmashTT, Arlington 4. Hartford County TTC I can't remember the last one or two...
