  1. Banish long pips

When other players have a nasty receive with grippy rubbers, it is not playing around with your mind like what LP does. It is not easy to adjust your mind to treat a ball as counterclockwise when you just saw a clockwise movement from your opponent. With some pips it is worse because they can...
  2. Banish long pips

Correct, those rubbers dont feel unfair to play against. I can serve all my sidespin serves without the fear that the sidespin will be used against me in a bad way. With anti or LP you can produce a sidespin ball that kicks in the opposite direction of your stroke... they can brush the ball in...
  3. Moral Question Here…

I dont understand - do you not serve short serves against everyone else? He is not even talking about super short ghost serves which btw one kid used to reach the final in a recent Chinese national junior tournament. Why would you intentionally dumb down your normal game so that the kid can...
  4. Moral Question Here…

Perfectly within the rules. There is no rules saying that you cant do short serves.... short serves are part and parcel of the game, and if he doesnt want to encounter them he should not compete in a tournament.
  5. Banish long pips

I am not talking about the entire game, but simply serve receive. Your argument is invalid because everyone trains hard with their equipment, be it pips or inverted. But anti or pips really makes it super easy to receive serves, and pretty much makes it a braindead hack for ppl who cant master...
  6. Moral Question Here…

Hahahahah you did great... short serves are part and parcel of the game and if he cant reach it that is on him, not you!
  7. This why I don't complain illegal serves

The current service rules are fine. The ball has to remain in full view of the net for the entire process. It is a simple to enforce rule if you have cameras that track the ball from the 2 net posts and automatically flags the server if it loses sight of the ball. Unfortunately almost none of...
  8. Banish long pips

No, because serve/receive is very technically difficult. You have to work for it, unlike someone who just uses some anti or LP, which is just lazy and ugly....

Hahahaha im so tempted to switch to anti on some days too...
  10. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

Yeah most players are resorting to illegal serves these days. In amateur circuits, it is even way worse with the serve cheats who use hiding and no toss techniques to hide their inability to master the true art of serving like a magician.
  11. Do you guys pay the coach for multiball drills in the club?

Multiball with a ball picker is the way to go. I improved heaps after incorporating it. You dont even need to feed it. Just practice whatever you want starting from a realistic serve. You can work on your weaknesses for one round of multiball, and your friend on the next round to allow you to...
  12. Banish long pips

:( i am really only sort of good at serve and receive and getting the 1st loop in. Once it gets to the rally I am a lot weaker because I just dont train enough on the table and didnt start young enough to have good muscle memory. Blame having too many things in life, i am only playing maybe once...
  13. Banish long pips

Well i cant get 80% win rates against better players obviously, but I do get a lot of free points even against ex semipros. The thing is that I worked very hard on perfecting those serves like how a magician works hard to create an illusion. It is an artform in itself which I can really...
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Figured out to get really super heavy sidetopspin on my hook serve. Previously i only got very heavy sideunder and moderate sidetopspin. Encountered a strange player who chops with incredible spin variation and lost 3 very closely contested games which all went to deuce. He was also using no...
  15. V flat hit / sideswipe FH

FH fade loop is extremely hard unless your pivot footwork is super good and the freaking arena has enough space for pivoting (a lot dont!). Imo BH loop is the easiest way to counter this.
  16. Banish long pips

Pretty funny - i went today at the club to train serve and serve receive. I was serving my usual hook, pendulum, tomahawk, heavy under/nospin serves to a few players (albeit a bit lower level than me) and my serve win rate is like freaking 80-90% with so many outright direct points. There is no...
  17. How to judge ball length?

This is generally correct. If you see arm backswing, they're 95% not gonna be able to keep it short lol. Especially if they are using fast rubbers and not Hurricane. If they use fast setups, they actually have to move their bat backwards to keep it short.
  18. V flat hit / sideswipe FH

This shot is quite disgusting as a serve receive of reverse pendulum. I do it all the time and abuse it quite hard. Think about the spin a bit - if it is righty to righty matchup, the spin is equivalent to receiving a FH pendulum sidespin. If you know how to BH loop against incoming FH...
  19. Is this the weakest China's men's team has ever been?

It is only weak because ML and FZD are absent - the 2 strongest players currently. ZJK, Ma Lin, WLQ lost plenty of matches especially in the small stage.
  20. Flat hitting vs brushing

it's probably a lack of practice. Just flat hit counter for an entire session and you'll get it. Then switch it up to spin based counter, and then challenge yourself to do 1 flathit counter, 1 spin counter, 1 flathit, etc... Warn your training partner beforehand that you're gonna do this so...
