  1. Spin theory

The chiquita with opposite sidespin is basically a BH fade loop movement and is completely different from the strawberry which is more of a pure fade or sideswipe. The strawberry movement is more like a BH pendulum serve. I don't think there is a separate Chinese description for the fade...
  2. Spin theory

    Yes that is right
  3. Best Table Tennis Techniques?

A lot of detail went into my TT game.... but one of my big keys was understanding the concept of using both index and thumb fingers as lever arms to your advantage to control spin.
  4. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Today I played with my usual practice partner and damn he played like Ma Lin incarnate today. So many ridiculous af shots - there were 3 close table FH counterloops off my very spinny loops to his FH yikes, outrageous around the net loopkills and a few unbelievable waldner style BH dropshots all...
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Not sure... there was no video footage in the area so there was nothing I could do.... obviously the perpetrator wouldn't admit to it.
  6. Spin theory

There's some very interesting points about receiving extremely heavy underspin serves too in terms of the push technique. It's easier to do a sideswipe style push with a lifting motion against real heavy underspin. Trying to add more spin to an already heavy af underspin ball is a fool's...
  7. Spin theory

First point - I think Lin Yun Ju has a more advanced chiquita than ZJK now because he can do both sidespin directions which means his angles are much wider - you can see him actually outright winning a lot of points with his chiquita that even prime ZJK didnt posess (ZJK had to rely more on his...
  8. Spin theory

I watched a few tutorials lately which gave me a some ideas about the theory of going against and with the spin and how it affects the ball. Going against the spin is the basic approach to dealing with spin for inverted players. This tends to be able to neutralise the incoming spin very well...
  9. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

My HL5 got stolen some time ago, but yes I remember the dwell I had when I was playing D09c on the FH with it, the arc was unreal and I felt I could land everything with it and not make any stupid mistakes. With Vis + D05 (my current setup), I feel like now my FH loops got a lot more sting and...
  10. Ayano in China

Damn those uncles and aunties have some serious skills! Ayano's style unfortunately didn't have enough fire-power imo, she's super solid but at that level you need to bring on the heat.
  11. Which is better value for money Tenergy 05 or Dignics 05?

Imo there is literally no reason to buy T05 because D05 is just better at every aspect, and T05 is still 90% of D05 price. Drop that to 70% of D05 price and T05 will destroy all other rubbers in terms of value lol...
  12. Contact point on ball

It should always be 3 o clock. This is to maximise the contact probability between the racket and the ball (ie not mishit the ball). You can do up to 2 o clock against sidespin but really you shouldn't overdo it because it increases your chance of missing.
  13. How to keep staying lower during the match?

I don't think one needs excessive bend at the knees. Some bending is good enough. Excessive bending means you're constantly in a squat position which ironically makes you slower unless you're Fan Zhendong with monster legs. The main thing is to lean forward at the hips and stick your butt out a...
  14. WTT Contender Taiyuan 2023

Yep TPB is a weird beast. On one end it can't generate heavy topspin and power as easily as shakehand, but heck is it fast, placement is easy and direct, plenty of variations, and most importantly there's no middle weakness and you can even use it on the FH side, and the transition to the deadly...
  15. T05H

Thanks for the write up. What do you mean by the durability of 05H being only similar to 09c? I really liked 09c feeling on the FH except the durability really combined with the price sucked which is why I switched to D05. The 09c feeling dies in like 3-4 months :(
  16. T05H

How does this rubber compare to D05 and D09c? Heard some conflicting reviews on it. The main thing I'm looking for is short game touch and spin quality on loops and durability.
  17. WTT Contender Taiyuan 2023

I actually tried other methods too, short push is difficult with the BH against very tricky FH pendulum serves because sometimes im not reading the top/under component completely correctly. D05 bounciness doesn't help me out in this area. All pop ups get killed by them too easily. My BH short...
  18. WTT Contender Taiyuan 2023

Somehow the penholders are insane at this down the line switch. I keep getting destroyed by this shot lately - the pattern is basically they serve to my short wide BH, I do a diagonal BH loop or chiquita (because I'm forced to due to the stupidly wide angle making it a nightmare to go down the...
  19. WTT Contender Taiyuan 2023

Yes, the scoring rate will be higher but the error rate will also be higher because of the shorter distance. LJK also rarely goes down the line in his matches, often preferring to just stay in the BH-BH diagonal. The BH switch down the line is not easy and really only mastered by a few players...
  20. WTT Contender Taiyuan 2023

He doesn't have the BH fade down the line like Harimoto or FZD lol. I think his movement doesn't lend itself to do the straight line BH. Also the BH fade down the line is best done if the ball is not exiting the sidelines. If the ball exits the sideline it's better to do a straight BH counter...
