I find most handles (FL) too whimpy and I don't have big hands. I love Donic, the way they compare equipment is excellent but most handles are just too thin. It could be fixed with grip tape on my Appelgren WC 89 because of the lightness of the blade but sometimes it would just make it too...

And you must let the sealer harden properly, I use regular varnish and let it sit overnight, then sand. If it’s to soft when you attempt to sand it it will become a sticky mess… Try “medium viscosity” next time, I think “normal viscosity” is too thin. Maybe it dissapeared inte the sponge...

I always seal my blades, and if the wood is old, thin and brittle it is important. It’s also important if the rubber sits for a very long time. You may get away with it, but if the top layer is Limba, Hinoki or spruce I would recommend it. Cheers L-zr
