  1. 2.1 or 1.9mm on T05H (FH) and D05 (BH)

No...H3 is meant to be boosted. There's like a significant difference in performance between boosted and unboosted H3. All the pros are boosting their H3s.

I suspect why the coaches emphasise hitting first, then looping is that a lot of beginners think that loop = ultra thin tangential contact which is the wrong way to go about it because it's incredibly easy to mess it up when you have a lot of variations in the incoming ball unless you're...

The powerhit against backspin ball is really hard to get consistent with. There are, however some players who are just supremely talented who can do it. The question is that of statistics. Against 10 random pushes (with spin variations, mind you a lot of players can put heavy underspin to...
  4. 2.1 or 1.9mm on T05H (FH) and D05 (BH)

Imo, 09c has about half the durability as 05 for some weird reason, although it is a damn good rubber.
  5. 2.1 or 1.9mm on T05H (FH) and D05 (BH)

You only get H3 if you love the boosting lifestyle 😂 but if you do, nothing beats it imo. My friend recently got himself a boosted blue sponge H3 provincial and it's the spinniest rubber I've ever played with and against. I had a really hard time blocking those hard dipping loops. 09c doesn't...
  6. Dignics 05 vs Tenergy 05

Yeah agreed with that. After doing some calcs I also found that Dignics actually saves money in the long run once you factor in durability...

I view the jump to land with both feet after the serve as a recovery reset after the serve, and the intermediate step back after a lunge to receive short balls also as a recovery reset, the jump back to the middle after a crossover step to the wide FH, and also jumping back to middle after a FH...
  8. Dignics 05 vs Tenergy 05

Yes that is what I found too. Also I feel like Butterfly is way overcharging for an old gen product, it should really be like 70% of Dignics price rather than 90%. It's like Apple selling the prev gen iPhone for 90% of the price of the current gen iPhone - major ripoff ugh.

I mainly watch men's table tennis, and yes they all do it at the highest levels. I think it's because every single stroke is powered by weight transfer - from serves to pushes to flicks to loops to even blocks. And also this intermediate reset allows you to use this to adjust positioning for eg...

I guess the thing I found is that, without the recovery reset the balance is usually not in the middle after the weight transfer especially after loops where a lot of power is used. The main goal of is to reset the weight back to middle, and often it doesn't require an extra step, mere a small...
  11. Dignics 05 vs Tenergy 05

I feel like Tenergy is just an inferior product to Dignics. Dignics can produce more spin but somehow it's also less spin sensitive. There is a reason why all the pros are using it - it is really good!

The problem with jumping straight into a backswing for the next ball is that against skilled players, they will have a look at your backswing and will give you a ball that's incompatible with the next shot. For eg if you got to a FH backswing but the ball comes to the BH, or getting to a BH...

Righties can also play using the exact same pattern by serving reverse pendulum/hook/tomahawk/BH pendulum to the wide FH and then going wide BH after your receive/loop. It's quite the nasty pattern imo. I usually only win against this by doing a FH opening loop loaded with huge spin and placed...

They both have very powerful FH loops with lots of spin, though they do tend to direct it forward rather than going for the spinny open ups. The BH countering is also very good.
  15. Grip problems, thumb placement

I personally just use the BH grip for my FH but they are quite relaxed. My idea is to use the index and thumb fingers as lever arms to amplify the spin from forearm pronation/supination. So I use both fingers (not just one) to spin the ball on the FH, as well as BH loop.
  16. Bounce with the Ball / Split-Step

Yep... I'm playing to improve, and usually the changes lead to a drop in performance in the short term. Too many changes - the FH rubber plus the recovery resets (I find that it results in your eye level changing slightly rather than being completely stable which needs some getting used to). But...
  17. Bounce with the Ball / Split-Step

Hahahahah that has to be part of the reason too
  18. Bounce with the Ball / Split-Step

Played matches with my old partners again and tried to consciously do the recovery reset after every single stroke. Weirdly after trying to force it for a few games unsuccessfully, suddenly something clicked and I'm starting to get the hang of it. Although I didn't win a lot due to all these...

Haha I disagree - the BH should be a killer by itself :) Better to loopkill on both wings than just one lol
  20. Bounce with the Ball / Split-Step

For me I wasn't bouncing at all when I played them 😂
