  1. Style choices

From my observation, most 'good' tall (>6'2") players play a variation of the Samsonov style, even Franziska plays that way for much of his play. That is, a languid, relaxed allround style. Ready stance = around 2 feet from the table. Strokes, tend to hit ball when it's falling, not afraid to...
  2. Deceptive pendulum serve

On any serve stroke, there are basically two ways to vary the spin for deception: 1. Same contact point on bat, different contact point on the ball 2. Same contact point on ball, different contact point on the bat The stroke action, including follow-through, remains the same.
  3. Wizard Tachyon Outer

It's time that the authorities ban posts like like this. It is so well written that it's as if the the OP is applying a pry-bar to my wallet.
  4. Where are all the old forum members

Trust me, The strong discussions we now have are way more polite and controlled than the verbal violence of the early noughties
  5. Where are all the old forum members

I suspect that most Users take a break every now and then. I have been active on TT forums from the late nineties and every now and then I see comments from the other old boys. However, as Dan alluded to, I think that mobile/cell phones are being used by more and more people for forums content...
  6. Advice on badminton shoes (for table tennis use)

Zwill, I think that you are mixing up gliding and sliding. Gliding is when the player is moving so smoothly across the floor that it appears that he is just floating, that is, gliding. Sliding is is like a car drifting around a corner, that is, the tyres (shoes) are always planted to the road.
  7. Advice on badminton shoes (for table tennis use)

  8. Breaking the rules of proper TT technique

  9. Coach Yoo teaching Korean Auntie to deal with OX LP BH

Nice. Here's a more 'manly' demonstration of that punchy, snappy/backhand from my favourite online coach of the moment.
  10. What is STIGA Cybershape?

Agree about the pro standard vs TTD However, others can expand or correct me, but the TTD players do have decent pedigree as strong amateurs Full-timers: Dan (the founder) - full-time running TTD Tom (full-time) - TT coach, highest rank about no.10-12, plays in Swedish top tier Louis (the beast)...
  11. Rubber lifespan

Assuming proper storage as you suggested. My very limited experience, after 12-18months from manufacture experienced players who change rubbers rubbers regularly will notice a performance drop. But from standard, very amateur or hobby player pov, at least 5 years before noticeable. If the User...
  12. Rubber manufacturers

Well done for that dive. It looks like Dunlop is just another brand these days
  13. Rubber manufacturers

What about, Sunflex? I see their name pop up every now and then as making rubbers and blades for several brands. From the old days, Dunlop were the biggest TT rubber manfacturer. Are they still in the TT business or simply manufacture the rolls of rubber and sponge that would be used by DHS etc?
  14. "Marsupial" bag for multiball training

Very similar to the Butterfly version
  15. I have a Hurricane 3 neo orange sponge 39 degree and a Tenergy 05, ask me anything!

A couple of weekends ago, I had a close up view of a few matches played by Grigory Vlasov, former world top 50. He used D09c/D05. The spin he developed with the D09c was terrific. His opponent blocked his loops off the table several times due to the high spin. His backspin serves were very...
  16. EPIC hand switch shot by Romain Lorentz Vs. Olajide Omotayo!

Great rally. Wrong hand loop-drive by one player and a flying, punchy backhand from the FH side by the other player.
  17. Europe Top 16 2022

Harsh penalty for the biggest young star ion the TT universe? Remember how they treated John McEnroe? or the first time a big baseball star confronted the umpire? It's all entertainment. More entertainment = more exposure = more money for promoters
