  1. difference between Carbon

Show me the money trail and I'll show you the truth Phillypong, your post demonstrates that the cost of production of composite blades are very similar to that of all wood blades. I suspect that the overriding reason for the big PR about composite blade superiority to all-wood is that the...
  2. Grip tape position to preserve ball feel?

    OK, that bevel. Got it:cool:
  3. Multi ball with Celluloid balls bad idea?

    OK, got that.
  4. Multi ball with Celluloid balls bad idea?

Are you sure about this? My experience is that it is the opposite. The higher level players quickly realise that whatever the playing conditions or equipment, it is roughly the same for everyone, so they now focus on winning.
  5. Multi ball with Celluloid balls bad idea?

Yes. I was an umpire at the Nationals the first season that they were used. Usually we carry 3 balls in our pockets for each match. Embarrassingly, I had to go get fresh balls twice. It was a match between Helshan Weerasinghe and Adam Harrison. They were both wacking (and top edging) the ball...
  6. Grip tape position to preserve ball feel?

Experiment I'm not too certain what you mean by "below the bevel". However, your solution is to experiment. I found that the kinesiology tape is nice, light and cheap. Use it and come back and tell us what were your results.
  7. Multi ball with Celluloid balls bad idea?

I don't believe the celluloid ball is actually banned. After all celluloid, AFAIK, is just another form of composite material. The chemistry experts here can correct me, but I think that we will always have big variances in the balls simply because the basic material can be made to emphasise so...

  11. Ovtcharov an FZD not shaking hands

Keep the thread going, it isn't overly nasty as yet. There are enough experienced and articulate people on here (I hope) to keep the younger ones on track. I for one did not know that muslim women do not shake the hands of men. Is it just some women or some obscure tradition, or is a general...
  12. Ovtcharov an FZD not shaking hands

I think that you should re think what you just said.
  13. More power/speed from LIGHTER or HEAVIER blade?

Ball quality is higher or more consistently higher? Ball quality is higher or more consistently higher? Just asking, as consistently higher with the lighter blade is my experience. For example, during a simple FH to FH knockup, the heavier bat (say 192-198g) composition gives off the bigger...

  15. Chopper vs attacker in final of Bristol Junior open 4 star event Dec 2017

Since the introduction of the plastic 40+ ball, forum wisdom states that defenders are at an extreme advantage. Here are two juniors (under 17) going at it in a classic matchup of attacker vs defender. Background, Joseph Hee from London (Fusion TTC) and Singapore is ranked at number 3 in the...
