1. No matter how good you get, there’s always someone better…

Just remember what Vitas said This is what Vitas Gerulaitis said after defeating Jimmy Connors at the January 1980 Masters. Gerulaitis had lost their previous 16 matches. "And let that be a lesson to you all. Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis 17 times in a row."

2. What are the unwritten rules of table tennis?

The first time my opponent smashes the ball during the warm-up, I say, "ready, let's start".
3. What are the unwritten rules of table tennis?

That's the issue. The player leading is saying, the game is over at 10-0 when clearly it is not. He is actually denying his opponent the chance to make a comeback which I find very humiliating. That's why I don't follow this rule. If I am 10:0 up, I am going for the final point just as I expect...
4. What are the unwritten rules of table tennis?

I hate that 11:0 'rule'. Yes in the old 21game it would be nigh impossible to make a comeback from 0:20 down. But 0:10 is much more possible if you are roughly the similar standard.
5. Timo Boll Insane Dive! In or Out?

BTW, a question came up in a longtime ago thread (can anyone find it?) about such a situation. Whose point if the ball bounces on the table then hits the net and the player strikes the ball for a 'winner'? In the thread, a poster pointed out that in tennis the ball would be regarded as being...
6. Timo Boll Insane Dive! In or Out?

Hawk-Eye This is one more piece of supporting evidence for a TT version of Hawk-Eye. https://www.hawkeyeinnovations.com/sports/tennis
7. Timo Boll Insane Dive! In or Out?

I wasn't sure what you were saying there. But as I see it, the ball hit the table twice on Boll's side before he made the spectacular lunge.
8. German Open 2017

What's really extraordinary to me is that both players were ignorant of a basic rule of TT. The ball hitting the net twice is unusual but not extremely rare. I've seen it several times so they must have seen it several times also.
9. I feel depressed watching this. Loop against chop

Luckily, there aren't too many around these days. They have been replaced by Apelgren style players, which are a bit easier to understand...sometimes:cool:.
10. I feel depressed watching this. Loop against chop

Believe me, I am well aware of the proper technique for playing against chop. But you will understand me more when you are an overweight mid-sixties player with dodgy knees, shoulder etc etc etc.;)
11. I feel depressed watching this. Loop against chop

I simply feel old watching these guys, I could do that stroke once in a rally but never twice in a row. Simply getting into position would be too much for me. Loop, then push the return, then think about another loop is my technique.
12. World Cup 2017 - Training Hall Videos

Fascinating. Have a look at 18:00, a simple subconcious demo of control by Boll.
13. November World Rankings 2017

And what I am saying is that his ranking is legitimate. He has met all the criteria. We all know that the if all the Chinese CNT players could play internationally, the rankings would look very different. But this BS is said every time a non-Chinese player achieves a high ranking. You should see...
14. November World Rankings 2017

Rubbish. He is ranked number 3 according to the criteria used by the ITTF. If we follow your line of argument, we can argue over the ranking of any player in any league.
15. Did the ball hit the table? Huge controversy - World Cup 2017!

Use of mics for edge ball I once set up a microphone on a TT table for recording a video. It was amazing how clearly audible was a brush-type edge ball. Now I did this with equipment that cost less than 20GBP. Maybe the ITTF needs to consider something similar. Edit: come to think about it...
16. World Cup 2017 - Training Hall Videos

Cheekiest rally starts at 16:27.
17. Butterfly Marcos Freitas ALC Blade Review!

This review makes want to buy the blade, whether I actually use it or not:D
18. Waldner vs Chinese Penhold Chopper (2017)

That last point:cool:
19. Reason to buy more Butterfly bats

Timo Boll just shared this photo below on his Facebook page and said, “There's a lot of matches. I've prepared enough rackets.” So there you have it, to properly emulate your TT heroes, you must take at least 4 bats. Plus a pro like Timo plays less matches than the average amateur so we need to...
20. Are styles conforming and hurting the sport?

One reason is that the CNT players are dominant because Europe has not produced any really outstanding new player for the last 10 years. Think about it. Samsonov and Boll are still tops and they have been there since the late nineties. ......OK, maybe Dimitrij, but no one else that I can think of?
