What are you doing blocking dead balls? *point*
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I wonder how much of this discussion has to do with playstyle. I've always played in a very serve and forehand setup oriented way, imposing my playstyle on the opponent, and it works all the same vs a hobbyist and an expert. Of course vs the expert I have more ways to lose, while the hobbyist...
  3. Post your latest EJ purchase

EJing a bit more, so I bought a sheet of Mantra M for my backhand, the old version. Supposedly good for spinning. I think I tried one once on someone else's blade and I liked it. Not itching to try it any time soon, because I also bought a sheet of H3 37A and H8-80 37A for the same purpose. :)...
  4. How to deal with high humidity and rubbers getting slippery.

Sweat a lot from your hands then breathe on the rubber and wipe it off with sweat every few points. I feel like it will promote dust to gather and seems to keep the performance more constant. Granted I don't know if this would work in S.E.A where it's actually humid.

It goes both ways too; apart from state (2200+?) and beyond players, I haven't found anyone in a club here who can actually deal with a good short backspin serve unless it's a drill and I let them calibrate to it for half an hour. 95% of the time it gets netted from the first push, and I'll...
  6. Best budget rubber for BH?

I played with it against some more advanced amateur players (1800-2200~) and they noted that I lack speed in the rallies, but that is probably just a me sucking thing. A 1600-1700~ guy tried it out and said it was really good and fast for him. He's used to wood blades, though, and mine was...
  7. Loki RXTON 9 new sponge.

It's technically a 0-based system with X being 0, and then 1 starts from A. You know, like on a keyboard.

From what I can see a lot of elite training is also focused around playing quality in non-perfect conditions, although the conditions occur due to different reasons. :P
  9. Best budget rubber for BH?

Similar topsheet, but I think the Euro 53 is less tacky. I don't know about the Asia. Euro 53 topsheet is much harder but also feels about as flexible. Euro 53 has more spin when hitting hard, and it's otherwise as easy to spin with. It's faster in all shots, including heavy pushes and short...
  10. Loki RXTON 9 new sponge.

DHS and the OEMs who make DHS sponges mark the production date and batch in that way. B would be 2 and F would be 6, with X being 0. The rest are for the batch. It could just be Loki copying DHS to appear cool and sexy but I doubt they're that lame. EDIT: Or it could be all for production...
  11. Need help for choosing new rubbers

You're uncoached playing sometimes as low as 1 times a week and you consider yourself intermediate to advanced? Did you play as a junior or something before? I'm not saying it to punch down on you or something (By all chances you're a higher level player than I am) but I think there may be some...
  12. Best budget rubber for BH?

Moon definitely needs a bigger swing vs backspin. The Euro 53 topsheet formula is probably less tacky, because mine has become effectively a grippy rubber in 2~ weeks now, while the Medium and Soft I had were both tacky a month in.
  13. Best budget rubber for BH?

+1 for Yinhe Moon Speed, especially when boosted. Soft feels quite a lot like Tenergy 05 FX, albeit slightly slower and with less spin quality when bottomed. Still, that's a 10 dollar rubber. The Euro 53 is a minor upgrade better for mid distance play, and a bit more expensive still, but not...
  14. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

I think playing level matters a lot. I'm a lower level player and I prefer inner carbon because I can play wide angles and drop the ball short easier. I also swing with a lot of power and don't find it too hard to "activate". I can make dangerous winning shots from 5m+ away. Outer is easier to...
  15. Need help for choosing new rubbers

If you're between intermediate and advanced, you probably have a dedicated coach, so why don't you ask him/her?
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Whenever my regular partner is at the club AND stays long enough for the club to empty enough for some video, then you'll see it. He's got some real tabletennis shoes now and his level has gone up a little bit just from that, so the next video might be interesting. We just couldn't film last...
  17. Loki RXTON 9 new sponge.

Maybe the same OEM that produces some DHS sponge produces this for them? For one the date code would match up; BF would be 2026.
  18. Where to find Genuine Gold Viscaria and W968 ( prott doubt)

Maybe not for F1 because they're pretty extreme and the physical conditioning requirements are really high, but many high-level racecars are just plain easier to drive fast on track than roadcars are. Especially the gentleman driver or endurance stuff. They're made to be easy to use, not...
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Played extremely well yesterday, the haircut buff is real. Hitting a bunch of shots which were just impossible with the damn thing in my face. Must be worth at least 50-100 rating points and not joking this time. Can confirm my exact DHS B2 that I received is some kind of super-blade, because...
  20. Why do some brands have products that are not on their website or catalogs?

Many of those are Chinese-market-only exclusives which get sold abroad via Aliexpress etc. US, European and JP/KR players generally tend to buy higher grade, more expensive products, so maybe the Chinese brands don't feel it's even worth distributing and marketing everything to them, and mostly...
