  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Made a huge adjustment to my overall game and I cut my hair. Now I'm not gonna be eating hair and having impaired vision on all my shots. Should be worth about 2000 rating points.
  2. I Spent 3 Weeks with Full The Chinese National Team

I think even as a relatively beginner player, you should still do mostly specific training and not so much one-point endless hitting. It's objectively proven to produce faster learning and stronger technical ability in other fields. There's just not a lot of point in practising to do something...
  3. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

It's really not a complicated function. The parameters are topsheet adhesion force, topsheet coefficient of friction slope in regards to load, sponge deflection compared to normal force. There's some stuff having to do with topsheet flexibility and pimple shear stiffness etc. but those are just...
  4. Where to find Genuine Gold Viscaria and W968 ( prott doubt)

They all go to the CNT, Provincial teams and sponsored athletes. None of them are made for the commercial market. The number is a batch number for the CNT and has no bearing whatsoever on grade or performance or quality or anything. The letter is a batch number for the Provincial teams. Out of...
  5. Viability of this loop training device

The ball doesn't care about acceleration, just contact force. So this kind of device is probably misleading at worst. What's the right force? As much as you can, cus it ain't gonna be enough. :P
  6. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

Best for me just means it needs the least adjustment and feels the most similar. It's not similar in performance in the higher power strokes. :( Supposedly Dianchi D may be. I found Battle 3 very spinny as well. It measures quite hard, 55-56.
  7. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

The best alternative for orange sponge is probably Loki Arthur China, and 729 Battle 3 for blue sponge. LAC especially is pretty close to a commercial H3 and I've kept it in my drawer and I probably won't give it out. :)
  8. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

The Target Special Soft and Target Provincial I've used just feel like Chinese rubbers. Maybe something like Battle 2, slightly softer.
  9. DHS W968 National vs W968 Gold / W968S / Q968 for intermediate player

I'd give the B2 a try if you can find one for a decent price to see if you like the ergonomics and overall philosophy. It'll be pretty similar to those anyway, except 1/10 of the cost. Trying a blade once is alright and you can find out if you absolutely hate it, but there's definitely a...
  10. Post your latest EJ purchase

Received a DHS B2. I think I got an insanely nice sample; very straight and even grains with a light colored wood. The handles are barely noticeably not the same length but eh, it's fine. I like the handle more than W81. Decider will be how it plays. W81 gonna be tough to beat. It's actually not...
  11. Fish scale. How much would be the price of this blade?

It's more flexible and less elastic and the design spec for flexibility in the different axes gets thrown way off. Generally you'd say that's lower performance. It does have some wear and fatigue benefits over time at least in theory. Of course this doesn't matter that much in a laminated ply...
  12. Fish scale. How much would be the price of this blade?

It's arguably a manufacturing defect or error that lowers the performance of the blade, but people pay extra for it, so it depends if you're more or less honest.
  13. GLUE - Does the brand of glue i choose make a noticeable difference ?

For performance? I haven't noticed, apart from if you completely mess up the glue job and part of it isn't fully adhered. DHS and Loki sure claim theirs does, but I don't know. For your sanity and continued sanity? Yeah. If you boost or change rubbers often, you're gonna want something that...
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

A really simple adjustment I've made lately is to just have the right elbow higher and more forward. I originally did it for backhand shot related reasons, but I later noticed it makes transitioning from a backhand followthrough into forehand backswing a lot easier, because the natural path your...

Received a W81 Pro Inner and some Suke glue. The blade fixes my handle geometry issues I had with the 5X (and it's not ruined by me sealing it like a doofus and ruining the intentional sweat-soaking feature...), and the Suke glue fixes my issues I had with Liulan. DHS is still better, but it's...
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I think it's just a shot choice thing. They're able to make high quality shots, but that's all they go for.
  17. Equipment upgrade for intermediate player

I found RXTON V easier to spin with than Target National, and that was with a 41A hardness sheet, or "very hard" probably in EU terms. I'm not saying not to switch or that there isn't a better rubber for you, but don't be surprised if you do and run into the same experience. You need to know...
  18. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

It's probably not so different from how learning other 1v1 games is. One of the main focuses for beginners in fighting games after learning some of "the fundamentals" is getting over obvious skill checks; certain strategies that aren't objectively very strong, but cause huge issues to players...
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Ironically sometimes the shots which "should be easy" to counter aren't because people don't train appropriate shots against them because it's not as sexy as doing multiball forehands all table or whatever. Intermediate club level players at my club slap their head every time they net my...
