  1. Why is it harder to receive hook serves from right handers than pendulum serves?

With FH, you have to fade loop it or at least do an almost pure topspin loop going from back to top of ball (never around the left side of the ball, that is when you will eat the sidespin full on). Careful with the top/bottom component, you have to read it carefully.
  2. What is the best way to return side topsin serves?

With over the table receives in general you can either go with or against the sidespin. They are both valid options that will produce different balls for your opponent. With loops it is just easier to go with the spin.
  3. What is the best way to return side topsin serves?

Yes, you dont need all that much, dont use arm for backswing, most important thing is to get there in position with your feet and be in the correct place and you can just use the fingers to spin the ball over. Standard racket angle would be OK. If topspin contact top half of ball and if...
  4. What is the best way to return side topsin serves?

Easiest to loop it with BH. Easier to loop it with the spin, dont go against it. So you still do a clockwise movement with your bat but you aim it more towards their FH (but the ball will still land in their BH corner in the beginning, after you get the hang of it it is not so difficult to aim...
  5. What is the best way to return side topsin serves?

Yep, with that circular stroke path, make it less forward and more to the side, and the ball will be shorter. This is how I control length at least.
  6. What is the best way to return side topsin serves?

These videos are all about going with or against the spin in various scenarios. Agreed that the translation is pretty bad.
  7. Wingspan blade

Also, you can most probably do standard FH chiquita really easily too just like penhold. It is basically the FH shakehand service grip, applied to the entire game lol...
  8. Wingspan blade

Yes, you are right. I would expect that defence and counters would be weaker due to the greater instability in the grip. Most probably it is gonna be amazing for serve/receive and variations and attacking play, but is not so good at the topspin rally. A bit like penhold in a sense.
  9. Improved Multiball Training Video

On your FH loop against his FH pendulum sideunderspin, you're hooking it way too much which is the exact thing that will cause you to eat the spin full on. Need to go a lot more on the back of the ball and go directly forward/upwards instead of trying to go around the right side of the ball...
  10. Wingspan blade

So it appears that this could be a serve/receive monster because of the way increased wrist flexibility. With shakehand your fingers are a bit extended which really reduces flexibility (and thus angles that can be obtained). I would also expect to get a lot of spin really easily with this. Also...
  11. Wingspan blade

Has anyone really tried one out before? As a serve/receive + BH oriented chiquita player I am really intrigued by this blade. So apparently the grip can be held in a shakehand manner (thumb and index finger on rubber), but because all the fingers are closer to the rubber relatively, it seems...
  12. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

Omg wtf did I miss! I was just away for a day...
  13. What is the best way to return side topsin serves?

A tip, use sideways movement to control the outgoing length. For eg if you are BH looping or chiquitaing a sidetop serve contact the top half of the ball and while brushing over the ball you should also try to drag it down and sideways to the right. Same with FH loop, you can make your loop...
  14. Wang Chuqin loses to 14 year old!

There is a reason for it - he pretty much relies on his serve for easy wins and didnt really develop a lot of his other skills unlike say Ma Long or Zhang Jike or Fan Zhendong who had to fight and learn a lot for their results every step of the way. He is like the guy who took shortcuts and is...
  15. Why do I suck at Table Tennis?

My goal was to reassure OP that when he thinks that he sucks, in reality we are all in the same boat.... I think if someone takes a lot of offence to that, they can simply choose not to hear it, or maybe choose to dial down their ego a bit, either works...
  16. Why do I suck at Table Tennis?

What i mean is that it is not a big deal to 'suck' at the game. Ultimately we all are here because we enjoy the game...
  17. Why do I suck at Table Tennis?

But well, we all suck here if that is any consolation. There's always a ton of ppl better than us unless your name is Ma Long or Fan Zhendong
  18. Why do I suck at Table Tennis?

Focus 90% of your efforts on serve and receive. The point starts there, not in the topspin counter game.
  19. DOWNFALL OF TABLE TENNIS, WHILE PICKLEBALL IS GAINING POPULARITY STEADILY.

Solution is simple, we should stop recommending double inverted to beginners. Just make it easy by introducing pips or anti. Otherwise serve receive is such a huge pain for beginners that they would just be turned off.
  20. DOWNFALL OF TABLE TENNIS, WHILE PICKLEBALL IS GAINING POPULARITY STEADILY.

Yes, agree that double inverted is the masochist way of playing TT. Anti or LP is just so easy to play, dont need such advanced spin understanding to play
