  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

A good coach will adapt their coaching to suit the student. A good student will adapt their play to suit the opponent - As you masterfully showed against the older woman who is a very good blocker. You explained that by changing your faster attacks for slower spins, you won the game easily...
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Like with most things in TT over the last 50 years, the only major changes I can see involve the very top players (professional). There is a slight trickle down to the various levels below that, and there have been very small coaching theory changes for juniors/beginners..... But IMO, 99%...
  3. Blade advice outer/inner ALC

But you are trying to improve by changing something that works for you in all aspects apart from one..... rather than work on the one aspect (your BH) that would improve your game more. Again, it's hard to comment without seeing you play - But from what you've said, I would stick with the...
  4. Re-sealing a blade for each new sheet?

OK, it'll all come down to personal preference, but I would be very surprised if people sealed their blades more than once.
  5. Blade advice outer/inner ALC

It's very hard to say - We usually have a slightly different thought of how we play, to how we actually play. My gut feeling is that you should stick with the Korbel and improve your backhand through better technique. I can comfortably hit absolute bombs with a wooden blade and D09c on the...
  6. Re-sealing a blade for each new sheet?

With the newer water based glue, I never seal my blades. I change rubbers every 3-6 months, depending on how much I play - I've never had an issue with blades chipping (just be careful when removing the old rubbers). I know people who do seal their blades, but it's usually just a one time...
  7. Blade advice outer/inner ALC

Hey MrGeorge, Is it possible to add some video of you playing? Just basic FH and BH should be fine. My initial reaction is..... It won't make any difference, and to not waste any more money. I feel people often try and gain more power from the equipment, when it's really the technique that...
  8. Don't blame the rubber if you don't get enough spin.

Perfect. Context really is everything here, and that’s why it’s so important to be able to showcase your ability level whilst trying to make a point. I mean no offence to BB here, but I couldn’t care less about his academic background. To be frank, the posts are far too boring for a table...
  9. Don't blame the rubber if you don't get enough spin.

Just to save me looking, does anyone have links to the videos BB posted of his play?
  10. Horrible backhand, stiff wrist.

I started writing, and clearly couldn’t stop….. if you read it all, you are a better man than most! 😂 I like your point about easy access to videos - That would be really helpful!
  11. Horrible backhand, stiff wrist.

OK, so I’m going to attempt to wade in on this….. Which may make it worse, and as I’m on my phone, it will probably be disjointed! 😂 Any user who has been around a while knows I’ve always advocated for people to upload videos of themselves, and I’ve posted about the benefits in other threads...
  12. Good source of insoles for sport shoes

Those are the ones! They do lots of different types, so it just depends what you want. I wouldn’t say they are revolutionary, but they do ok for me!
  13. Good source of insoles for sport shoes

I always replace the insoles with Dr Scholl. They just provide a little more cushion for the key pressure points.
  14. Horrible backhand, stiff wrist.

I can block like that sometimes as well, and it's usually an instinct type thing.... But when I really try and get my wrist straight, force my head down and closer to the ball whilst staying low..... I find my blocking shots become much better (and then the rest of the game becomes better!) I...
  15. Video Footage Safe Thread

I find slowing your swing speed down to the extent that you are, makes it very hard to hit shots consistently well. You are never going to be able to load a shot with topspin, which is going to limit your progression. If I feel like I need to play a bit safer one day (maybe I'm not quite "on...
  16. Video Footage Safe Thread

It's very difficult to comment unless we know what you are looking for. Is there any particular part of your game you'd like people to comment on? It would help if the match play video wasn't just the "highlight" points. Much easier to see the flaws from the rubbish shots (we all have them! 😁)
  17. Horrible backhand, stiff wrist.

I understand the confusion - Perhaps I should have emphasized my points a little more. If you watch the video, rather than just take the static images, you'll see what I mean. I did try and make it clear, but appreciate it could have been more obvious. The pic of him playing the FH block was...
  18. Horrible backhand, stiff wrist.

For ease of clarity, can we just call them beige shirt and yellow shirt? 😂 - I have no idea which one has red hair! My pics show what they need to in the explanations I put below each pic. Pic 1 is where the beige shirt is on the back foot, but his wrist position on his bat is good, and when...
  19. Horrible backhand, stiff wrist.

My comment was to the guy in the beige top - Who I am hoping is the OP 😅
