I won't be wasting any time on this rubber

Its a cheap rubber.
any time or glue you continue to use is worth more in value than the cost of a new cheap rubber

I think the hand sanitizer might have messed up the rubber as well

When its dry, it seems normal. But when it gets hot and humid, it seems like the rubber surface gets kinda slippery and oily. I feel the rubber is not gripping the ball on loops. Does that make sense or am i just imagining things?

Maybe try using rubber cleaner and a throwaway sponge and see if that helps it?
