The next match is tomorrow at 10:30AM German time, Berlin vs Weil. Unusual time because it's a big event tomorrow in a bigger venue in Berlin. Düsseldorf and Fulda will play against each other later that day and Boll will also be there as a guest. 1500 tickets have been sold. Berlin's manager expects 1000 people to watch the women's match, but I would be surprised if that many show up that early.

I will be coaching a friend of mine at a tournament and will miss the match. Hursey is expected to play, but even with her it will be tough. Weil is currently last without a single win yet.

Not the match anyone was hoping for after scheduling it with the TTBL and making it a big event. Both Hursey and Lachenmayer were missing for Weil. The former is attending the Muscat Contender and the latter had to play the state championships to qualify for the German Championships for individuals later this year which she did successfully. Unfortunately Toftaker was injured and had to forfeit all her matches and the back-up Osypenko is way below the pro level at about 1600 TTR (she plays Oberliga women). Berlin's manager was not happy and put the blame on the assocations since almost all state championships happened this past weekend. Berlin decided to play on just one table to make up for the unfortunate circumstances. The venue surprisingly was already packed for the women's match against my expectations. Supposedly 1600 people were there live. Sozoniuk was the only player to win a single game against Berlinand the whole match was over in about two hours.

There will be three matches this upcoming weekend:

Saturday: Kolbermoor vs Dachau 2PM German time
Sunday: Bingen vs Weil (no stream) and Weinheim vs Dachau, both at 2PM German time

I will be in Weinheim again on Sunday.

Today's match has concluded.

Pretty good match overall and another strong performance from Dachau. Kaufmann/Tiefenbrunner managed to win their doubles after being down 0-2. Byun's chops kept going long and the Kolbermoor pair hit good shots. Kaufmann likes to play material, but ended up losing against Byun. Since they kept switching between the tables I couldn't see the whole match, but Byun's chops caused pushing errors and she just counter slapped Kaufmann's smashes in the end. I think Winter was surprised by Huang's quality shots in the first game, but found her way back into the match. Tiefenbrunner played for the first time this season, but simply stood no chance against Cosic. Meanwhile Jokic had no problems with Pranjkovic. Then the match started everyone was looking forward to, Kaufmann vs Winter. Winter beat her 3-1 in the first half of the season. Similar to her first match she had a rough start and Kaufmann overwhelmed her. The second game started the same. Kaufmann kept using the hook serve into Winter's forehand and she made pushing errors or got punished in her backhand corner on the third ball. Winter finally figured out to just step around and use the anti to receive and started to catch up after being down 1-6. It went to deuce and Kaufmann had the upper hand. Winter definitely didn't use the anti that much today and often got jammed in her backhand corner while stepping around for the forehand. Unfortunately the injury she already had in Doha must have started to bother her too much and she forfeited the match after the second game. Pranjkovic already secured the overall match for Dachau after beating Tiefenbrunner, but Cosic's match had priority. She and Jokic play pretty similarly, high quality on both sides and good in the open rally. Jokic was stronger though at the start and was already up 2-0 when Cosic turned up her game and forced the match into the decider. At 10-10 she hit a pretty obvious (imo) edge around the net, but there was some confusion as Jokic disagreed. The umpired immediately pointed to the edge though and the decision stood and Cosic ended up winning the match with the next point.

Final scores have been added to the post above.

Reminder that there are two matches tomorrow. Only the Weinheim match will be streamed though and I won't be able to post anything because the venue kills my internet. The streaming links have already been posted.

It was interesting that Kaufmann had an easier time playing Winter than playing a chopper.
Winter didn't use her anti really much though from what I saw to disrupt the rhythm and Kaufmann had a service plan it seemed and it worked.

Kaufmann largely stayed away from it for sure and her serve and third ball was effective. They didn't show game 3, so the ending was off camera but it felt like Kaufmann studied what Nagasaki did and has an effective template. How well Sabine plays against lefties is going to be a topic going forward.

Jeger Majstorovic vs Cosic 1-3
Chien vs Winter 3-0
Wan vs Byun 2-3
Matiunina vs Cosic 3-0
Jeger Majstorovic vs Pranjkovic

Not much to say about the first match. Hursey was available again. The doubles were close and Rakovac put up a good fight against Hursey. This is Weil's first win this season.

Weinheim's match was a weird one. Winter's injury from weeks ago that forced her to forfeit yesterday made her unable to play today, but she was in the line-up and forfeited all her matches as a result. She was unbeaten until yesterday's match against Kaufmann. Chien and Wan make a good doubles and beat Byun and Pranjkovic. Wan automatically won against Winter so Chien and Byun was the first singles we got to see. Unfortunately Chien is not great against defense. The one game she won after starting to loop into Byun's backhand, but she doesn't loop chops back-to-back too well when she goes for it and was just out of it in the last game. Usually she is pretty good at defending attacks, but Byun's attacks all caught her off-gaurd. Matiunina had her 1. Bundesliga debut today and won her match against Pranjkovic comfortably after the first two tight games. She is very good at keeping the ball on the table when pressured and does not back off. Jeger lost a close first game against Cosic, was down 5-10 in the second game and went on to win it 12-10. Pinning Cosic down in the middle and making her hit a forehand into Jeger's forehand for her to punish it with a wide forehand worked really well. Unfortunately at 10-10 in the third game in a similar situation Jeger twisted her knee (I think) while reaching for the wide forehand. She immediately went down and was in a lot of pain. They cooled it and the ambulance was even called, but it didn't look like they could do much. The ambulance was still in the parking lot when I left so not sure if she was going to be transported to the hospital. So the match went to Cosic who btw received a yellow-red after throwing her blade after the second game and not going to the table after the umpire called for time twice. Wan went on to play Byun and was down 0-2 after finding her rhythm against the chops and forcing the match into the decider. Unlike Chien she looped the chops continuously. I'm not eactly sure what happened, but at 8-8 she was bothered by something and made two easy mistakes and lost the match. She was still annoyed after the match, but I couldn't tell what it was. Matiunina meanwhile beat Cosic 3-0 and was finished before Wan. So it was finally a win for Weinheim after a terrible first half this season, but Jeger will be out for an unknown time. Weinheim will have a break until March. I don't see Jeger recovering until then though and she already has issues with her other knee.

There is a total of four matches during next week's extended weekend. I will make another post soon.

What kind of injury does she have? Having it still affect her so close to all the individual continental events coming up over the next few weeks is not good for her....

Problems with her adductors. She can't move as well as she wants to. She already sit out during the German Cup finals, but it persists.

Here is the schedule for this extended weekend's matches:

Friday 6PM German time

Kolbermoor vs Bingen (livestream)

Saturday 2PM German time

Weil vs Dachau

Sunday 2PM German time

Dachau vs Bingen (no stream)
Weil vs Kolbermoor

I will be watching a club match tomorrow evening, but should have time during the weekend. Weil hasn't posted the livestream link yet. Kolbermoor needs some wins to secure a play-off spot and a miracle would need to happen for Weil to make it.

Today's match has concluded. Weil was very close to getting their second win this season since Winter is still injured. The back-up for Dachau is rated at only 1600 TTR so it was a given Weil had three safe points.

Hursey beat Itagaki comfortably who would usually play in the lower pair. Sozoniuk lost a close match against Byun. Byun is not seen internationally really, but is a great chopper. Sozoniuk plays short pips and is not on the level to loop her chops so it was a lot of pushing and trying to get a forehand smash in. Fischer with her 1600 no chance at winning against Lachenmayer. I was surprised by Riliskyte's performance against Cosic. Just outplayed her in the first game and was even up 2-1, but lost in the decider after trying to banana a serve in her short fh at 9-10. I think it's her first 1. Bundesliga season and all the losses have made her stronger. Her service game was a bit lacking in this match. Cosic could go into the rally most times on the receive and I wouldn't try that personally against that level of opponent.

The livestream was focused on her match and Weil streams the other match in a smaller window simultanously so I didn't catch the first few games of Hursey against Byun. Somehow Hursey was up 2-0 against the South Korean chopper, but once again the match turned around. Hursey is really not great at looping chops from what I have seen so she pushed most times after the first loop again. For some reason she is great at smashing the chops. Maybe they were a bit too high, but I thought I'm seeing Ito playing here. Byun is an iron wall though and returned a lot of those smashes and started attacking. Byun was up 8-2 in the decider and anyone would have thought that it's over yet Hursey smashed her away and Byun missed attacks she maybe didn't need to win the match. Hursey made seven points in a row and only needed two more, but Byun was back on point with the iron wall and surprise attacks. In the end Hursey lost by looping a chop into the net.

Sozoniuk was not able to win her match against Itagaki after a 2-0 lead. Both play short pips and it was basically a smash battle. At this point only a draw was still possible for Weil and Lachenmayer needed to win since Riliskyte made short work of Fischer who honestly didn't look that bad against someone with 500 TTR more. Again the stream was focused on Sozoniuk and I only saw the latter part of Lachenmayer's match. She is a chopper, but not that good. It's a night and day difference compared to Byun, but she barely trains and is focused on university. It was a match with a lot of errors. Cosic trying to go too hard on chops, Lachenmayer getting not being ready for the chops from the wide forehand corner and missing them. She missed a crucial forehand punisher in the decider and I think by that she was a bit out of it and Cosic won the match.

No comment on why Dachau didn't bring at least Pranjkovic.

Final scores added above as well as the ones from yesterday's match I couldn't watch.

Tomorrow two matches. Kolbermoor needs a win to secure the play-offs. Bingen signed a Chinese player for the remaining season, but she couldn't make it yet and it's unknown whether she will be there.

I have been lazy and don't have much time to write anything about last weekend's matches. Scores have been added. Weil with Hursey is definitely a capable team, just a bit too unlucky. They have lost nine matches in the decider against Kolbermoor and Dachau. Kaufmann absolutely destroyed Hursey, though.
Dachau had a tough time against Bingen despite Winter being back in action. Unfortunately there is no footage, but I was surprised to see Byun losing both her singles. She was supposedly tired from Friday's match still. Pranjkovic saved the day in the decider for Dachau. They are guranteed a semi-final spot in the play-offs at this point.

The next match is tomorrow (I'm late yes). It's the start of Langstadt's farewell tour. Both the 1. and 2. Bundesliga teams will dissolve after this season as was previously announced. Luckily two other clubs in Hessen took over the licenses for both teams and the 1. Bundesliga will continue next season (they would have not continued with only six teams). TG Langenselbold is taking over the 1. Bundesliga license and Sophia Klee and Lorena Morsch will be staying. The current first women's team in Langenselbold is only playing Bezirksklasse and the club is looking for players that will play in the upper pair. Announcement coming hopefully in the next few weeks.
TTC Salmünster is taking over the 2. Bundesliga license. No players news for that team yet. The current first women's team is playing 3. Bundesliga.

Tomorrow's match in Langstadt against Bingen starts at 2PM German time. I will be at the state championships and will most likely miss the start, but will tune in later. The match will also be streamed to my surprise after a long time of no Langstadt streams.
