The new season starts on Sunday so here is the new thread. Mytischtennis launched a new version of the site that is basically inferior in every way. Most links are broken if you check out the previous thread.

Unlike the men's league the women only have seven teams competing. Eight are technically mandatory, but the league has been struggling to fill the quota for a long time due to a lack of interest/funding. Berlin is the unmatched top club having won the German Championship ten times, the German Cup ten times and the Champions League five times. Here are the teams in order of their current ranking in the ongoing season (links lead to their info pages on mytischtennis.de, the main site for table tennis in Germany). TTR is the rating system that is used in Germany (Elo like); WTT, ITTF events and the Olympic Games contribute to the rating. QTTR is the quarterly TTR rating. The May and December QTTR are important when the clubs register their teams. Otherwise QTTR decides which division players can sign up for at tournaments in Germany. The QTTR listed before the players' names is from May.

Match system:

The women play on two tables at the same time. Every match starts with two doubles followed by up to eight singles, best of five. Whoever gets six points first wins or the match can end in a draw at 5-5. There is a restriction for foreign players outside of the EU that allows only one such a player to play concurrently so a team like Weinheim can only use one of their two Taiwan players for each match. Most clubs also don't have fancy venues and use school gyms often or some other kind of venue.

The playing order is based on the "Bundessystem" for four-player-teams. Doubles pairs can be freely chosen and put freely on 1 or 2. For singles it's according to the position players have been registered in and that is done by TTR rating. A match goes down as follows:

DA1 - DB1
DA2 - DB2
A1 - B2
A2 - B1
A3 - B4
A4 - B3
A1 - B1
A2 - B2
A3 - B3
A4 - B4

How to watch:

The women's Bundesliga is not affiliated with Dyn so German viewers don't need a subscription. It's up to each team whether they want to stream. At the moment Dachau and Bingen don't do it unfortunately. The remaining clubs all stream on YouTube, but only Kolbermoor and Berlin offer viewers both tables. The YouTube links are:

Weinheim
Langstadt
Weil
Kolbermoor
Berlin

Play-offs:

There has been a big change for the new season. Only the first four teams now qualify for the play-offs.

The first match of the season takes place on Sunday at 1PM German time. This will be a re-match of the play-offs semi-final Berlin vs Dachau. Bajor, Berlin's new addition, will be there and Mittelham is making a comeback. Neumann has had her palatine tonsils removed and will be sitting out. It's unclear whether Kaneyoshi will play. While Liu Weishan and Kihara Miyu have joined Berlin, the latter will definitely only play Champions League and the former most likely too.

Great to see the streaming. Got to see Winter vs Mittelham. They really get the women to play in their leagues, it almost seems like the men are trying not to play in comparison.

Today's match has concluded. Winter was the only one to get points on the scoreboard for Dachau which wasn't there in full force to be fair. Winter vs Mittelham is worth a watch. Clean 3-0 with the anti causing trouble for the latter. Final scores have been added in the post above.

The next match is tomorrow at 2PM German time. Weinheim will welcome Weil who has to play without Anna Hursey since she is at the China Youth Smash currently. Weinheim will have the full team available. I will be there in person. Also, they have moved to a different venue starting this season for the first team. It's another school gym that is used by the rival club and has finally opened again after two years of renovation.

I actually forgot that there was another match today, but that wasn't being streamed live. The phones were set up in Weinheim, but the streams might be unlisted again. I will have to ask them about it. Anyway, the scores for today are:

Weinheim vs Weil 6-2

Chien /Wan vs Toftaker /Riliskyte 1:3
Jeger Majstorovic/Nguyen vs Sozoniuk /Lachenmayer 3:0
Chien vs Lachenmayer 3-2
Wan vs Sozoniuk 3-1
Jeger Majstorovic vs Riliskyte 2-3
Nguyen vs Toftaker 3-0
Chien vs Sozoniuk 3-0
Wan vs Lachenmayer 3-2
Jeger Majstorovic vs Toftaker 2-0

Without Hursey Weil didn't really have a chance to win, but it was up in the air how Nguyen would perform in her first Bundesliga match, but she did great. Lachenmayer is really dangerous for someone who only trains once per week. She may not be the best chopper, but it's the surprise attacks that make her so hard to play. Both Chien and Wan could only win in the decider. Jeger was up 2-1 and lost in the decider after defending four match points. Riliskyte had a terrible record last season so it's nice she could get finally a win after a long time.

I don't like the new venue. The layout hasn't changed since the renovation. We are no longer sitting on chairs, but on extendible stands meaning you can't rest your back on anything. My neck was already killing me during the doubles and there are a lot of elderly people watching live. Internet straight up doesn't work which will also be a problem when they have to use the digital scoreboards starting next year. We are not as close to the boxes as we used to be and the tables were set up so that we were watching from the side. Nowhere near as bad as the WTT side angle. The benefits are a quicker set-up for everything and there is a stall already installed for food and drinks. There is just a lot of space left unused. Before the match started it looked like barely anyone came, but it filled up quickly.

Bingen vs Langstadt 1-6

Kuzmina/Shi vs Schreiner/Morsch 2-3
Mynarova/ Rakovac vs Paranang/Klee 0-3
Rakovac vs Schreiner 2-3
Choi vs Paranang 0-3
Shi vs Morsch 3-2
Kuzmina vs Klee 0-3
Rakovac vs Paranang 0-3

Not much to say without a stream, but I was surprised to see Schreiner and Klee not play doubles. They are good friends and always play together. Choi is a dark horse. Her last record is from 2016 and I don't think she has played any international event since then. She is 27 years old and a chopper and will play a lot this season according to the club.

The next match is in three weeks on October 26 and will be a big one. Kolbermoor vs Berlin.

The streams from Weinheim's match yesterday are now visible, but they misaligned the cameras again. They are trying to fix it at the moment. Will update the links later.

Today's match ended with a victory for Berlin. Kolbermoor beefed up for the new season, but their top Asian players were not present. Lisa Wang is the daughter of Saarbrücken's coach. She is a chopper, still very young and this was her 1. Bundesliga debut. Jokic played for the first time in Germany today. Berlin on the other hand was there with a top team, but Kaufmann beat both upper pair players. Here are the scores:

Kolbermoor vs Berlin 3-6

Kaufmann/Ghosh vs Mittelham/Surjan 0-3
Wang/Jokic vs Bajor/Griesel 0-3
Kaufmann vs Bajor 3-1
Ghosh vs Mittelham 2-3
Wang vs Griesel 0-3
Jokic vs Surjan 0-3
Kaufmann vs Mittelham 3-2
Ghosh vs Bajor 3-0
Wang vs Surjan 0-3
Jokic vs Griesel

Next weekend will be busy with four matches on Saturday and Sunday. I will be in Weinheim on Saturday watching the match against Langstadt. The other match on Saturday should be the only one that won't be streamed.

Yuan Wan is injured (tendon in her playing hand if I didn't misunderstand the manager) and the 13-year-old youth talent Lotta Rothfuß (TTR 1816) filled in. She and Kim Seongjin both had their 1. Bundesliga debut today. Unfortunately it was clear that Weinheim would not even have a chance at getting a draw with Jeger having to move up into the upper pair and Rothfuß simply not being good enough yet. Still some good matches with Kim vs Paranang being the highlight including match deciding donkeys.

Weinheim vs Langstadt 1-6

Kim/Jeger Majstorovic vs Paranang/Klee 3-2
Nguyen/Rothfuß vs Mantz/Lupulesku 0-3
Kim vs Schreiner 1-3
Jeger Majstorovic vs Paranang 0-3
Nguyen vs Klee 0-3
Rothfuß vs Lupulesku 0-3
Kim vs Paranang 2-3
Jeger Majstorovic vs Schreiner 1-3
Nguyen vs Lupulesku
Rothfuß vs Klee

The other match is still going on and might end closer than it started out before the break.

Bingen vs Kolbermoor 5-5

Shi/Kuzmina vs Kaufmann/Jokic 2-3
Choi/Rakovac vs Ghosh/Wang 3-2
Rakovac vs Ghosh 2-3
Choi vs Kaufmann 2-3
Shi vs Jokic 3-1
Kuzmina vs Wang 1-3
Rakovac vs Kaufmann 0-3
Choi vs Ghosh 3-0
Shi vs Wang 3-0
Kuzmina vs Jokic 3-0

I jinxed Kolbermoor lol They were up 3-1 before the break, but the match ended in a draw. Kolbermoor was strong in the upper pair while Bingen's lower pair pulled through. That's why it's so important to win both doubles and start 2-0. Final scores have been added in the post above.

Tomorrow will see two matches at 2PM German time. Weil vs Berlin and Langstadt vs Kolbermoor. Both should be streamed, but I won't hold my breath. Weinheim is still struggling with streams as they are once again privated. Will post an update when the match is available again. Weinheim also announced that they have signed the top player of the 2. Bundesliga, Veronika Matiunina, for the second half of the season because Brateyko is pregnant and won't play the entire season.

Today's matches have both concluded. Very close win for Berlin. Bajor lost both matches, but Hursey struggles with defense from what I've seen. Sozoniuk had her chances against Kaneyoshi. Griesel was undefeated and Surjan got one point on the score.

Langstadt continues their streak and wins against Kolbermoor. Kolbermoor's lower pair is too weak and the team will struggle to qualify for the play-offs if this continues. Even though the club beefed up for the new season the new players are from Asia in addition to Ghosh so they fall under the foreigner restriction rule and only one of them can play concurrently. Final scores have been added in the post above.

The next match will take place in one week at 2PM German time, Weil vs Langstadt. I will be at the district championships and won't be able to watch the match most likely.

Sorry, was in Frankfurt yesterday and the district championships today had me busy for most of the day with no internet in the venue.

Weil vs Langstadt 4-6

Sozoniuk/Riliskyte vs Mantz/Morsch 3-1
Hursey/Toftaker vs Paranang/Klee 2-3
Hursey vs Mantz 3-0
Sozoniuk vs Paranang 0-3
Lachenmayer vs Morsch 1-3
Toftaker vs Klee 2-3
Hursey vs Paranang 3-1
Sozoniuk vs Mantz 1-3
Lachenmayer vs Klee 3-1
Toftaker vs Morsch 1-3

Close match looking at the results. Might as well have ended in a draw. Morsch carried the team with her two wins. She is the current U19 German champion and quit school to focus on table tennis. Paranang saw her first loss today in this season against Hursey who got kicked out in the quarter final yesterday at the Feeder in Portugal. Klee was also there. After four matches Langstadt is still undefeated and number one while Weil is last despite good performances.

Livestream of today's match.

Next week has three matches on the schedule. Friday Kolbermoor vs Weil and Sunday Weinheim vs Bingen and Dachau vs Weil with the first two matches being streamed. I will be in Weinheim again on Sunday.
