Wow, Xu Yingbing beat Fan 3-0. He‘s also beaten Wang Chuqin a double times. I wonder why he sucks so bad against foreigners, it can’t just be the lack of exposure
Huh? Must be some exchange result in the absence of Ma Long...

some players are just used to Asians styles, but not European styles

Haven't watched CTTSL much but Chen Yuanyu stands out in this current match against LYJ/LJK. He looks skinny but seems to be matching LJK in the power game. Who's he? Lol.
Chen Yuanyu is heavy lifting the Shantou team at the moment while Lin Gaoyuan continues to lose every Singles match Independent of who he faces. That was not on my Bingo List for this CSL Season.

Chen Yuanyu has been the top player for Chinese 2005-born-youth-players until Lin Shidongs breakthrough during the pandemic. Then he was treated very weird. For the last 2 years he was mostly sent to contender/feeder tournaments along with the national c-squad while barely playing with the rest of the youth team. Ultimately even playing feeders instead of the Youth World Championships.
Towards the end of this year he had some very good showings with top 32 at Chinese Smash where he also almost took out Lin Gaoyuan. And a feeder win in Düsseldorf.

Still 19 he could be a breakout star next year if he starts well in the first two events in Doha and Muscat. And I assume his CSL performance could also lead to a wildcard for the Singapore Smash. However Huang Youzheng freshly crowned U19 world champion is also on the rise right now.

Chen Yuanyu came down with an illness in late 2021 and has fallen behind since.

the race is on
LGY will retire first
other than the forced retirement of Chen Meng

Shandong Luneng (Ma Long’s team) might not even make it into the final draw if this keeps going on, Ma Long is the only stable player there
I wonder if Ma Long fans will be upset with the very respectable "Waldner".
viewership from China would be interesting.

a fun tournament at most, and delayed 2 years and now clash with the club team that most fans are seeing Ma Long to feature against the other top players in the league

I understand Ma Long has that value but Waldner cup can easier finish in time for CTTSL
The XD world cup finish on 8 Dec.
they could of done this event during weekdays, so Ma Long can get back in time.
But we all know they would want weekend to fill that 500 seat stand.

or just move Waldner Cup to China, so Chengdu, Waldner Cup and CTTSL.... or some where with same time zone.
it just seems like poor planning.

If better planning, LYJ would likely play too.

With LYJ team world would have had even less of a chance to win.
But I agree, the timing of the Waldner Cup was bad, they knew when the CTTSL was gonna be. Well, at least Ma Long won in Norway. I understand the pressure on him. If he hadn’t won this event the CTTSL fans would have been even angrier. Tho, it’s not his fault that his team is so incapable without him. Yuen Licen for example played quite well last year but he’s playing like dog poo now even in doubles

Imagine Ma Long retired with last match in Norway and not China

Probably because XYB played 0 matches this season to date?
He is there on paper at most
I was speaking about last season, not so much this one but regardless, what you want to see is a player doing better overall on a broad scale, not just winning some league or tour matches.

Its all part of the players development.
some players do well in league, and bad on wtt and vice versa
last year he only lost 1 match, with a what, 90+% win rate in Pro A?
but maybe this year, he will only win 1 match, it is all possible.

but if you play against westerners more often in league matches, it helps both you and the opponent, but we all know CNT needs more exposure, since they play so little WTT, and many times in WTT it is against asian players too. and especially XYB.

In 2024 WTT, he only played 19 matches and you tell me, how many is against Asians.
also, in France, he is himself. In CNT, he needs to be a supportive role at first.
