Kuo lost to Wen in their first 3 meetings dating back to 2023, likely due to age gap (WRB has a fake age). Kuo has won the 3 most recent ones before today, so I'm not sure it is a trend yet.

Its funny you mention that about WRB having a fake age because I always remember seeing him playing u15 and then also 2023 u19 world final as a 16 year old and thinking he looks way older than he actually is. It also might just be that he matured physically early

Almost all pro table tennis players in China are older than what they say. Being 2-4 years older than someone can have a huge advantage when you are a kid. Then again, they are all doing it so I guess it evens out.

They did not win the games I expected but finally succeeded to overcome China in a final. Tomo brought them back to still have a chance and Sora finished the job. Apart from the final points I couldnt watch the matches and saw only live scores. Cant wait to watch the matches later 🏓
If anyone saw the games. How did Tomo beat WCQ? Was he that good today or was WCQ tired of 5 Sora games?

Personally I would have played LJK over WRB. However the coaches want to develop WRB as a player so they have to give him a chance to perform in high pressure situations. LJK also probably wants to retire soon and China is looking towards 2028.

Does it really matter? For me, Tomo did not breakdown. My theory is that practising with Sora since they are now in the same club enabled Tomo to read Wang much better. But Tomo dominated him, defended the middle better, attacked the serves, countered Wang's forehand with his backhand perfectly, got a couple of lucky points, but in that match, the player who won was clearly the better player on that day, it wasn't close. Maybe Wang was tired or injured, but a style has its benefits and its limitations. I couldn't see anything wrong with Wang, Tomo just returned serves much better and avoided a lot of traps and won a ton of rallies with Zyre spin.

Sora won it for Japan! I followed the scores but couldn't see a live feed on YouTube. I don't know how significant this loss is for CNT, but the tide has been turning for some time and the Men's team is clearly in decline.
