Saddest person today is Gozo? Double inverted Miwa losing to pips is a double whammy. Nevertheless, one gold and two silvers is a historically amazing achievement in itself.

Between He Zhoujia, Mukherjee, Kim Kum Yong, safe to say that Miwa still isn't comfortable against long pips/anti. Wonder how Mima would have fared against Kim. She needs to set a date with HZJ and Kim ASAP and win to give herself a USP on the team.
Ito's main problem is amount of the unforced errors she committed which gives her opponents hope that as long as they hang on Ito would have a chance defeating herself with all the errors even including lots of service errors.
Apart from her short peak years, Ito's never seriously addressed the issue, only getting worse as times goes on, so is her self confidence.

Her ability to demolish Batra and Ayhika while Miwa struggled makes me believe that she'll have a chance against HZJ and Kim. Of course it won't be easy since those two have better forehands and variations.

All three pits players you quoted are steadier than Ito. Of course, none of them can beat Ito in terms of ruthless offensive power. However, the general philosophy for a pits player is, you try to force opponents to play your type of game, make them uncomfortable and earn each point. Pits win the majority points by opponents' mistakes and supplemented on occasional offense.

Yes, you are very likely right. Ito may have mighty struggle against top Chinese topspin players because the spin and pace they put on the ball often lure Ito into lots of errors, against other pits she still maintain advantage as pace and spin are not there anymore so that her error rate is down while she is far superior to these pits in offensive prowess. As a pit player herself, other pit players won't have much disruptive effect on her.

Funny thing for Ito is, as a pit player, she plays more aggressive than most inverted rubber players, always trying to outpace and overpower these offensive oriented players.

Harimoto won quite a few points by hitting to LSD’s wide fh
That deep to the BH followed by redirect to FH combo as well as wide FH exchange worked great exploiting LSD's height.

Congratulations Tomo! I so wished for Miwa to be WS champion. But that doesn't take away from her magical run in Teams to secure gold for Japan against China. This has been an amazing tournament for Japan: Women's Teams Gold, Tomo winning gold in MS, Miwa winning silver in WS, Odo/Yokoi win gold in WD, Miwa/Miyuu win silver in WD.

This tournament has been full of surprises: Miwa putting the team on her back to win team gold, 14 year old Benyamin Faraji takes down WR#1 and nearly takes down LSD, Kim Kum Yong of the hermit kingdom wins gold in WS, the collapse of China.

The scenario that Harimoto described in the interview with Butterfly after WTTC 2023 is here.
Miwa's brother delivers.

As for Miwa, she is so generous compared to Greedy Ito. Instead of hoarding all 3 titles, Ascetic Miwa shares 2 of them. So many brand-new Asian Champs in this edition.
