For well under $1 per ball, you can get DHS D40+ 3* balls

DHS orange/white balls once used by china super league are cheaper and pretty good

Donic P40 2* blue logo made in germany are very good, 45 euro for 120 at tabletennis11

Sorry for slight necropost, but I wanted to share something. I used to use Huieson balls for a while. Its been fine for multi ball AND robot practice. But once we started using them for matches, they started cracking. I think 2 intermediate people using their force on them is too much. They break on seems.

So I'm in charge of our club in a city here in the midwest US... Part of this answer depends on your location and how quickly or regular access you have to X ball.

Let me tell you right now stay away from the Nittaku J-top ball. That thing is hot garbage and cracks under regular play all the time.

We play our tournaments with the Nittaku Preimum. It's a good ball. Too expensive IMO for what it is but it seems to be the standard people expect so it's fine.

J-top for club play would be a great alternative right? Nope. They break and cost more than our better alternative. We've since moved to the Joola 3 star ball (you can get like 120 of them for around 20 bucks) ballpark 16 cents per ball) and they've vastly better than the J-top ball. Straight up it's a better ball easliy.

The DHS 1* balls are perfect my for training.
I use these ones

My coach has a box of these and they also work great for training.
They take one hell of a beating and seem to last pretty well

Joola ball is only good for a week. after that many of them will distort or become tilted in a way

J Top seems fragile yes (the orange breaks easier than white) but they remain roundness till the end

Interesting.

That hasn't been my impression at all and club members certainly would have said something to me given there are many with strong opinions on balls there.

So I bought a 100 sanwei tr balls a few months ago and we have been using them extensively for multiball and for other drills. They have held up extremely well and I can definitely recommend it. :) in fact sometimes we’d play a match with it, and while I definitely notice a difference between that and say a nittaku ball its not that big of a difference.

On JOOLA balls I lime them for a robot but whenever I bought them some of them were just weird and not round enough haha On nittaku jtop I have actually heard that they are overrated as well from a few folks at my club, I only tried one out once and it felt meh.

My favorite match ball though is by far DHS d40. It is such an amazing value for money, I prefer the weight and the bounce of it over butterfly and nittaku balls. I did buy a few of dj40+, I’m expecting more of the same but will shall see :)

Last note is that I also tries JOOLA match balls (forgot what they were called but they have a red logo), they’re ok but just a tad bit too light for my preference.
