I call the wood a blade when I'm in the US, and call it a paddle when glued. I call it a racket on rare occasions. I think I would use bat if I were in the UK.

In France, I call the wood "bois" (direct translation), and call it "raquette" when glued (I don't think we have any other word for it).

It is a paddle. Bats are round, and rackets have strings. I can use a ping pong paddle as a paddle. The Paddle Palace got that part right.

Interesting idea. I could imagine it might get a bit exhausting on longer distances though.
