The official way to call it is a racket.

Personally, that's what I use too.

I thought the point of this thread is that there really is no “official” way to call it. And different people call it differently. [emoji2]

I call the wood a blade when I'm in the US, and call it a paddle when glued. I call it a racket on rare occasions. I think I would use bat if I were in the UK.

In France, I call the wood "bois" (direct translation), and call it "raquette" when glued (I don't think we have any other word for it).

You mean like in: row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream?

Interesting idea. I could imagine it might get a bit exhausting on longer distances though.
