Have any of you guys tried using blue sponge Hurricane 3 or Skyline rubbers on your backhand? If so, what was your experience?

I am considering trying it, because my backhand is my stronger side. Usually I play with blue sponge on the forehand, since that's what everyone else does. But most people are forehand-dominant, so maybe the reason they do that is because their forehand is their stronger side. Supposedly the blue sponge lets you get some more spin and power than the orange sponge.

Unfortunately my racket is asymmetrical (I am a penholder and have modified my racket) so I can't just turn the racket around and try blue sponge on the backhand.

If anyone else has tried it and can compare it to the DHS orange sponge I would be interested to hear about it.

If you are already using TG2 #20 on bh, I think it's worth a try. But I wouldn't say that #22 necessarily gives me more power and spin, rather it offers more support the harder I hit, a stronger sense of dwell time than #20, and a lower more penetrating arc.

Don't worry what everybody else does. Turn your blade and see if blue sponge offers you better support for your BH. If it does, stay with it. Whatever brings you more points is the right thing to do.
I also thought, that it requires a softer sponge on the BH side, but since years I now play the harder rubber on the BH side. I have not worried to find out why. Just sticked to it and it works for me.

i have tried the Bluestar A1 with the Myabi by now, before it was on the BTy Kiso V.
It plays softer as the 52.5 ° i love that rubber with the Hinoki blades, but it is expensive to give it a shot.
But those newer Hybrids are really good for the Hinoki Blades, and i consider the Bluestar A1 a hybrid altough it is slightly tacky but lasts longer than the average hybrids.
I am an agrressive attacker with good reflexes, but my footwork is garbage.
So i have realised my weaknesses and try to get better at it,cuase let´s be honest,if an enemy seas a weaknesss he will exploit that till the bitter end.But luckily (sometimes for them) i am as stubborn as a garbage can that time cannot decay.
IMeaning i know i should maybe avoid the mistake but cannot help myself i will attack even if the odds are against that stroke.
But sometimes...they simply stare:,as I do when i hit it like in the old times:)

But why not go for the BS on Bh,if it is your strong side then go all out and maybe use a player version BS H3 if you can afford it.
Think to yourself " NOt a single fuck was given" if you go all out.You only live once or if you reincarnate who knows if you can still play:)

I think you can use it, but you would have to loop drive a majority of balls coming to your backhand because of the lower and longer arc. This will be good if your technique is solid and you make good use of your body on the BH strokes. There will be less focus on spin, control and placement, and more on power and speed.
For most players, that is probably the wrong way, but if you are confident in your backhand it can be a major advantage, because people are not expecting such penetrating shots from BH side.

I am also looking for an alternative for backhand DHS H3 BS. I am using dhs h3 37 deg orange on bh and bs on fh. When I tried my black bs in bh, i put more balls on the table and I feel the ball to the wood and to my hands, I love it and the crispness.
Do you have suggestions?
You could look at Victas Triple Double Extra. Very hard rubber coming in at 57.5° and the weight can fluctuate and you can boost it like Hurricane to make it softer. This rubber has blue sponge available in both black and red so if you want to keep Hurricane 3 Blue Sponge, you have the option to use it on backhand or forehand. This thread gives you good info about it.

Dr. N Dominance Spin Hard, I have very good impressions at 1.5mm (measured 1.6). Is advertised as 47 degrees shore O (measured 49), so it will be around H3 37. The grip is excellent, with no detectable air oxidation. The top sheet hardness is between black H3 BS and red H3 OS. The weight is 43g, cut to 161x156. I expected it to be less than 45g in max thickness and 157x150. Speed and loop capabilities are good for 1.6mm sponge. Definitely will try the max thickness in the future.

TDE is good for 2-3 weeks, after the factory boost is gone and needs to be boosted. Is extremely sticky (hold the ball for more than 30s). Has a lower throw angle than H3 and a softer topsheet. Boosting with 2 layers falco platinum fixes the rubber properties for longer, but the top sheet becomes even softer, the sponge becomes 52 degrees. With H3 I am more consistent, generate more spin and the weight is lower. TDE is easier for openups and backspin lifting on BH.

Played it one season. The consistency with blue sponge is higher. But requires a really good perception of timing. It's nearly impossible to hit through with your own power. You need to engage the power of your opponent and your own to make a strong shot. You are able to play really short topspins though, which was really unexpected for everyone.

However, since I ran out of separat #22 sponge to glue on red hurricane rubber I've reverted back to orange sponge.
Imo the topsheet quality of the hurricane matters more than the sponge itself for backhand.

Benefits are that I have a really rock solid backhand after playing with it 1 season.
