The tenth round of the China Super league 2011 took place yesterday with the big teams colliding.

Shangdong 3-1 Bazhou (Match of the night – Zhang Jike vs Xu Xin)

Zhang Jike the star representative for Shangdong won his opening match against Bazhou’s Cheng Jingqi in an impressive 3-0 win. Bazhou’s Xu Xin defeated the young rising star of China Fang Bo 3-0 with scores 11-7, 11-8 and 11-9.

After the first two matches this left the overall score at a tie of 1 a piece. Zhang Chao and Fang Bo of Shangdong put the team back into a 2-1 advantage by defeating Li Ping and Cheng Jinqi 3-1.

The awaited match what everyone wanted to see was between the two titans of the table tennis world! Zhang Jike vs Xu Xin!

Zhang Jike stepped into the court with National team match however on this occasion his enemy Xu Xin. The first set went to Zhang Jike as he took total control and won 11-5. Xu Xin fought back to win the next set 11-7. However, the momentum changed rapidly and Zhang Jike dominated the next two sets to win the game 3-1 and for the team in beating Bazhou 3-1.

This is Shandong’s eighth win in the Chinese Super League. However, for the mighty team of Bazhou this is their fourth loss of the season.


Zhejiang 3-2 Bayi (Match of the night - Timo Boll vs Yan An)

This was the best match of the evening by far in terms of the match scores and the fact that these two teams are consider the best teams in the Chinese Super League.

The opening match up was between the mighty veteran Ma Lin vs teenage sensation Yan An. The teenager came flying out of the blocks from the word go and defeated Ma Lin with scores 11-4, 11-9 and 11-8.

Once again another incredible match took place with the David Beckham of the table tennis sporting world Timo Boll who faced Wang Hao. Wang Hao got off to an impressive 2-0 lead. Timo Boll fought back to win the third set 11-9 however it wasn’t to be for the German and the former world number 1 and Wang Hao won the match 3-1. Wang Hao put Bayi in a 2-0 lead.

Ma Lin and Hao Shuai of Zhejiang won the doubles match in the third match beating Wang Hao and Zhou Yu. The Zhejiang team won by 3 games to 1, with the score board detailing 11-6, 14-12, 10-12 and 11-2.

The fourth match of the night was epic with Bayi’s Yan An in tip top condition as he dominated Ma Lin previously. Yan An faced Timo Boll and was in a 2 set to 1 lead. Boll however fought back with his incredible determination and focus and won the next two sets 11-6, 11-6 levelling the overall match score to 2-2.

Hao Shuai saved the day for the fifth match of the night as he dominated Bayi’s Zhou Yu by 3 games to 0 with scores 11-9, 11-6 and 11-8.

This was a very impressive victory for Zhejiang as they fought back after being 2 games down. The match gave Zhejiang their Sixth consecutive win in the Chinese Super league. This defeat for Bayi’s team put them in joint top spot of the league with rivals Zhejiang and Shandong.


Jinzhou 3-0 Jiangsu (Match of the night – Wang Liqin vs Lei Zhenhua)

Shang Kun played superbly for Jinzhou in defeating Chen Qi in an impressive 3-1 win. This was a great start for Jinzhou.

Jinzhou’s star player Wang Liqin then had an epic encounter against Lei Zhenhua of Jiangsu. The match went to five games with Wang Liqin just winning 14-12 in the last set!

Jinzhou was then the eventual winners over Jiangsu as Shang Kun and Zhai Yiming won their doubles match 3-1.

This round has put Jiangsu into an horrific tenth consecutive loss of the season. Things are looking on the up for Jinzhou as they won this round and gave the team a second win of the season.


Ningbo 3-1 Sichuan (Match of the night - Ma Long vs Qiu Yike)

Qiu Yike scored the opening point for Sichuan as he defeated Wang Jianjun by 3 games to 0 with scores 11-8, 11-7 and 11-8.

Ma Long, known by many online fans as ‘the beast’ crunched Zhang Yu of Sichuan 3-0 to level the overall match score.

The third match of the evening saw Wang Jianjun and Wu Hao defeat Zhang Yu and Xu Reifeng 3-1 in close scores of 15-13, 10-12, 11-8 and 11-9.

The match that got everyone talking on the night was the battle of Qiu Yike and Ma Long in the fourth match up. Ma Long won the first set in a close 11 to 8 points. Yike of Sichuan bounced back to win the second set 11-3! Ma Long was not happy and returned to the third set and won in a fantastic 11-1 set victory. Qiu Yike couldn’t hold of Ma Long devastating style and lost the set 11-8. Ma Long completed Ningbo’s victory.

This is Ninbo’s fifth win in the Chinese Super League 2011 however for Sichuan it’s their fourth consecutive loss.

In the eleventh round of the Chinese Super League 2011 will see Bazhou vs Ningbo, Shandong vs Jiangsu, Jinzhou vs Zhejiang and Sichuan vs Bayi.
