Wang Hao totally no problem against defenders.... Fan Zhendong is up next.... Ningbo in trouble again.
I am surprised they put Ma Long in the doubles match..

With only one round left, Ningbo, Luneng, Bayi already secured a place in the playoff round (Stage 2), the last round will only determine in what position they will advance. Shanghai and Jiangsu will compete for the last spot. If Jiangsu wins its last round against Guangdong which shouldn't be a problem, Shanghai could only advance if it wins over Ningbo in the final round because it's head to head record against Jiangsu was 0:2. If that's the case, then Ningbo may not be able to maintain its No. 1 position. It will be a 3 way tier among Ningbo, Bayi, and Luneng assuming Bayi and Luneng both win their last round which shouldn't be a problem 'cause their opponents (Bayi vs Sichuan, Luneng vs Weiqiao) are weaker than them.

I was more surprised that he partnered with Yan An... yet they have left-handed players...

Ma Long just posted this on his Facebook profile:

"Today I beat my good friend Wang Hao, but it was not enough and we still lost, but it's ok as we have already made the finals.

Today we gave more chances to the younger players, which is why I only played one singles and one doubles. Also I'm feeling a bit tired after the season and need to recover before the finals."

Dimitrij Ovtcharov posted this on his Facebook Profile, "We lost 1:3 to Shandong today. I was beaten by Zhang Jike and Hao Shuai. Anyway I was really glad to talk to Timo! Due to the defeat we are only fifth in the ranking at the moment. The chance to qualify for the playoffs is however still high as we are facing the team Guangdong which is at the bottom of the Superleague and our rival Shanghai has to play the league leaders Ningbo! Cross the fingers!"

I did some calculation and it turned out that even if Ningbo losses to Shanghai in the final round, it will still advance as No. 1 because of set tie breaker among Ningbo, Bayi, and Luneng. If Ningbo losses and Bayi and Luneng win their respective matches in the last round (Round 18), Ningbo will be No.1 (9 win 8 loss 1 net win), Bayi No. 2 (9 win 9 loss 0 net win), and Luneng No.3 (8 win 9 loss 1 net loss). Call me conspiracy paranoid, but I do believe that Ningbo did not try to win against Bayi today because it does not want Luneng to be No. 2. This round it determined who would be No. 2, and next round, it will determine who will be No. 4. Ningbo is controlling everybody's fate. Well, what can we say? It earned the right to be on the driver's seat.
