My understanding is that FZD had to choose between getting likely Ma Long or Xu Xin first in the semi finals (since they finished in places 2nd and 3rd in the first trial and are thus the top 2 seeds for the second trial) and FZD went for Ma Long first. I am not totally surprised, since both Xu and Ma are obviously tough but FZD and Xu Xin have played a lot in opens since last year, with wins for both players. In the end it was likely that FZD would end up playing both anyway so maybe it's not a big difference (I think it's a fair to say that Xu is a favourite in his match against Wang Hao if only because of his younger age and athletic abilities).
Anyway, another epic Fan vs Xu showdown, will be watching this!!

XX won 3:0 against WH. So now XX and FZD qualify along with ZJK and the final will not have any importance. However, I'm 100% sure that ML and WH will join the other three to complete the 5 man team for the WTTTC.

It would be fun if Hao SHuai upsets Wang Hao / Ma Long and we will get to see if the chinese coaches over ride that for the final team selection to include Wang Hao

Not sure if I understood you correctly, the format is knockout so the early round losers don't play each other again i.e. Hao Shuai, Ma Long, Liang Jingkun, Yan An, Cheng Jingqi, Wang Hao will not be playing any further games to determine placings 3-8. Only first place gets direct automatic qualification.
As someone has already noted above I would also bet that Zhang Jike, Ma Long, Xu Xin and Fan Zhendong will be in the team. I also think Wang Hao is likely although in my opinion Yan An also has a chance still. Bearing in mind number 5 in the team most likely will not be be playing the "big matches" anyway. From that respect bringing in two youngsters (in relative terms) FDZ and Yan An also makes sense. Still Wang Hao might still make it with the coaches choice (pretty amazing given he is like 31 or 32 I think).

Predictions for women team
Since we started to think about composition for men's team, I thought I would have a guess at guessing women's team. I think regardless of the outcome of the trials (3 players are certain).
1.Li Xiaoxia 2.Liu Shiwen 3.Ding Ning
I know Ding Ning hasn't been outstanding in the trials but still I am pretty sure the coaches really trust her. If assuming Mu Zi wins tomorrow against Liu Shiwen then she will get a spot. The dilemma is for the final spot, there is both Chen Meng and Zhu Yuling, two young talents who are pretty much equally promising. I wonder if Mu Zi will get the coaches choice if she loses the final, if she doesn't then it will be both Chen Meng and Zhu Yuling.
I really hope for Mu Zi's sake that she will get a chance (she is a bit older than the others and this may be one of her last chances) and therefore despite the fact that Liu Shiwen is my favourite I hope Mu Zi gets a direct qualification.

No, the 2nd qualifiers are for one spot only. The other 3 remaining spots for the team will be decided by the coaches. FZD vs XX will determine which player will take the 2nd slot
