I don't know but feel like it should be stated because it's true. It doesn't matter what he's using. Full on euro, hybrid, Chinese tacky, his serve is what it is from skill. Not the rubber.

So if you're watching his videos looking for pointers, then look for the pointers. It's not the rubber.

I wasn't trying to be contentious. I'm sorry you took it that way.

Almost universally when people ask questions like that, it's under the impression that the person asking what they suspect they're missing is the right kind of rubber. It's helpful for them to learn sooner rather than later it's not the rubber.

It just sounded a bit aggressive... Anyway, I'm curious too though. Different rubbers have unique properties and react differently depending on technique, it's interesting to see what he's using.

But surely the equipment matter. Without grip he can not make good spin, and with more grip he can make more spin.

I think that more important than the amount of spin, is the deception both in terms of the type of spin and where the ball will bounce.

I have a friend who received serves from him recently in the US. He said he struggled with Craig's pendulum serve more than his legendary punch serve and that Craig had a way of serving the pendulum that led you to underestimate how much spin was on the ball because the ball lacked forward momentum so my friend repeatedly underestimated how active he had to be to get it over the net. Even when you watch him with Duda, you can see it is not just about any single insight into serving, it is a lot of things coming together. Asking about his equipment is just another way of saying that you want to eliminate the obvious variable lol.

Re Craig's pendulum serve being more difficult to receive than the punch serve - I felt exactly the same when playing against him in a tournament back in 2019. The placement and the amount of sidespin make these very awkward to receive, you always have to move just to get to them, let alone do sonething aggressive with the return. And when he does that trick serve pretending to go for a reverse pendulum and does a super heavy side top pendulum at the last moment instead - that's very hard to react to.
Tldr: equipment has nothing to do with his serves, it's pure skill and understanding of the game.
