Played my first session back in the rural club.
I thought my touch would be superb, after a rather intense tt week for me.
But it seems like without a proper training partner, my skills drop significantly.
I could only arrive late today due to work, and by the time I got there, my only available training partner was playing with someone, and after, he had to leave early, so I couldn't warm up with him.
I played the next strongest player twice, beat him 4-1 first go and then maybe 5-1 second one (can't recall exactly). Although the set scores were in my favour, I was not happy with my play. I did try to bh open up more, and some were landing, but some weren't. I wasn't too happy with the %. Also, without someone to warm up my fh, I was missing shots.
Sadly this guy is unable to play at our comp due to some family issue.
Before the end, I played a young man. He has been improving significantly, especially in his rallying ability. I used to beat him still when I had a -9 start while he starts at 1. But he has changed his set up, and now he is doing much better. He still can't really serve well, mostly top/less top spin and trying to ambush the angles etc, but his rubbers are so weird.. like they just absorb all the speed away, and doesn't take much spin, so he would be doing much tennis strokes but the ball doesn't really kick, it just goes over with so little energy that I lost the first set horribly before picking myself up to win 3-1 (and this is with us starting at 0-0). It is like when I expect the ball to come towards me but it just drops without coming much forward.. So I missed alot of shots.
He will be in the comp, so it will be interesting to see how he goes against others and myself there.
I can't play anymore tt until the comp in a week's time. I am both excited and a bit nervous. I think we have just enough players to make the comp work.
