One could argue you drank too early. I used to toss in a 24 pack of beer and drink with the other club coaches for three hours before my matches started.

[...] i went drinking yesterday night (3 whiskys) and had a short night [...] (fast heart beat, sweating like crazy)

These things happen, and there's a correllation there. Especially the short night, in my experience. I get the same; many people accuse me of having a superhero alter ego, the superhero in question being Too Much Coffee Man.

THIS IS NOT TRUE! I'm Too Much Espresso Guy, secretly.

Haven't been able to post here for so long... because my shoulder issue still hasn't resolved :/
The ultrasound came back, all the muscles were fine, but there is mild subacromial bursitis... If anyone has any experience or any advice regarding this, please feel free to enlighten me.

Starting to go crazy after not able to play for so long!

Jea but mine are so short, that the ball rarely makes contact with the nails. Rather with the skin infront.

Mine are very short and I can do it, like suds said, curl your fingers in more.
I found the best way to learn was to just practice catching the ball with your fingernails without spinning it at all, then spin it a little bit and keep increasing the spin. Then you'll find after a few days or something that you'll be able to do it easily :).

Have been training much less, but I will probably need to try to see a doctor again at some point to address chronic injuries and reevaluate the possibilities. Just too lazy procrastinating...

Still playing well. Gone to a very neutral grip and playing decently. IT is really funny how grip affects everything. And since grip can be affected by handle/balance of your racket, it is really funny how that can affect things as well.

I will be playing less for a while though. Travelling a bit in July with my siblings.

I would say visiting someone who knows gardening and nutrition is more preferable to the robo-pharma prescribing sytem we have...

Had a good hit session at club yesterday.

I'm really trying to focus on improving the techniques I might not be as strong at when I got to club vs trying the "just win at all costs" approach. Sure you could push that long backspin serve but does that really help you?.. That's the type of stuff I'm talking about.

Discovered a real nice whip mechanic with sort pips in the FH stroke. I know NL is big on whip mechanic with inverted so he might like this. Anyways, playing SPs and hitting into the ball I largely didn't try to execute the technique. I thought the whip was only for spin. I think looking back now that was a mistake. You still need to do it to generate that strong powerful snap IMO.

Anyways, on largely any ball that bounces say a little over net height and higher I was simply smashing or slapping at the ball with a good amount of consistency. I suppose any inverted player out there who can smash or slap shot a high kill ball would identify the two swings as being strkingly similar. I was picturing my arm swing going around my body completely flat with a pretty flat blade face. Not at the 45 degree angle from waist to opposite shoulder like an inverted player might do. Purely flat around my body. But the whip came into where it felt like my body and forarm were beginning to swing and my hand & blade were being left behind dragged to catch up just before contact. I told my friend it was like pretending I had a 10 lbs paddle and a loose wrist. Then swinging. It sways back & then forth like a snake.

The resulting power and speed was incredible (this is where the whip comes in). It was exciting. My training partner commented on whatever you're doing, keep doing that. :)

Now I don't know about you guys. But I've had nights at club where I one particular shot was simply on. Then the next week it isn't and/or you forget what you were doing that worked so well. So going forward I'm trying to remember key words or things to tell myself (like loose wrist or whip) to remember to use this technique. Perhaps I hit them in next week. Perhaps I don't. Improvement is rarely a steady climb upwards. But the technique appears right for short pips and I figure as long as I keep to that, the consistency will hopefully get better & better over time.

My old Joola Extrem blade is getting resurrected with my father's help!
It broke at the handle and it's outer veneer damaged. Normally I would let it go, but it's so much better than everything I've tried that it worths the effort.
We successfully glued the handle. Because normal glueing wouldn't be strong enough, we strengthened it with four bamboo stick.
You might think that it lost it's feeling, but bouncing a ball on it gave me a good feedback into the handle, and it didn't had any bad vibrations.

A few words about the blade: it's a seven ply allwood blade. It has three identical inner ply (I think ayous, but not sure), then a thin darkwood ply, and a thin, probably harder limba outer ply. It is 7 mm thick, 110 gr. I think this already made obvious that this is an Off+ blade, but at the same time it's really easy to play. Weight isn't a problem because of it's great weight balance (it has a solid handle). Shortgame is it's weakest point due to it's fast nature, but shortgame is my strong point, so shouldn't be a problem.
