I could trade you another tasty tibhar blade...

Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

I'll give you the two of them for an Inca or Qabod. Does that work?

I don't have an Inca with me, but a new Qabod, yes. The package is crap as it has been in an Adidas bag, but it is new and un-used. Would be willing to trade the new Qabod for the used KJH any day of the week.

You would like this one for your fast game, it has a good top gear OFF+ ish, but it has enough flex to make spin and dwell is surprisingly there.

Today, I went to the club and re-glued the old rubbers from my 2 month old KJH onto a new 87 gr FL KJH, put TWO grip tapes on it to make it a kinda lopsided ST fat handle, gives me really good leverage with fingers and fat part of wrist muscle to easily move the bat another 5-8 cm during my whip. This makes my low power and middle topspin shots easier to make spin (and control).

Sigh.. the Inca is the one I Really want though... will settle as a last resort if necessary.

Here are some highlights from club last night.

People I'm playing varies. Some newer. Couple of them more experienced. USATT 1894 & 2071

The match vs the 2071 player (Daniel - the kid here) I lost 3-1 to last night. I'll post that in a day or so.

Hope you all enjoy. Video should be 1080p so make sure your youtube settings are on that.

Great stuff. I know it is just highlights but your strokes look really good. The serve selection could use some work though. You could easily break 2000 if your serve and return game get tighter and you hit a bit with Dan.

Thanks NL. That means a lot coming from you.

Yeah they're just highlights. I mean you will see my flaws when I post my 3-1 match vs Daniel. He's in another level to where I'm at.

But it's my assessment that I'm capable of hitting the impressive looking shots but the consistency. Sometimes the decision making and playing tough competition maturity (if that makes sense), service selection, service receive (which was hampered by playing LPs for a good number of years) just not quite there yet to be on that level.

But tell me what you think when I post that match coming up in a day or so here.

Though i might not be as experienced as NL in coaching i still want to tell my impressions. So maybe take these words with a grain of salt.
Hope you don't get it wrong.

Nice vid, Suds79

Some nice RPB shots you've got. Also some nice fh kills.
You've done some pretty powerful
Shots there.
One thing that came to my mind while watching, but maybe it wasn't visible very good from that angle:
you probably could get even more power if you could get more weight transfer behind your fh powerloops. It sometimes seemed to me that you were moving back a bit during the stroke.
I mean at 0:20, 0:26, 0:48, 0:52
If you would get your body more behind the ball you'd literally be shooting bullets.

But as i said: it also could have been the cam's angle.
Everything else shows some very nice improvement.

Good one.
Looking forward to the vid of your game.

Nice one Suds! I like that you place the ball very well. I always loop to the same spot on the table over and over again, making things harder than they should be.

Today I am going to play a Swiss cup match with my club. I am not sure if I should record it as my legs are pretty much dead :O. ( I went to a 80s party this weekend and danced like crazy and now everything is hurting... im getting old xD)

However it would be a good chance to try to see if I can attack fifth balls off the bounce in a match... as you can see from my recent videos I have big problems and tend to lose my advantage after the first open up.

In case you haven't seen my last video:

I think it kinda got lost in the thread.

Some good points. Yeah I def see what you mean in a lot of those. Moving kinda sideways or moving as I'm swinging a lot of times. Probably just a lack of footwork issue with never having received any proper coaching & starting to play seriously at 30.... I'm 38 now for the record.

I never take offense to creitques. I figure if you post online, you've got to be ready for opinions from all over. So I don't mind at all. Plus I just want to get better so I welcome it.

So the last one at 52 i was trying to run around it to play the FH. A lot of times on forehand open ups vs serve, I feel more comfortable doing what i call soft looping. Where the ball is more spin based, generally higher arch over the net than that ball vs power shots. I'm not at the point where I feel comfortable power looping a lot of long balls off the table. But yes if I stay more grounded or moving forward, I probably would get a little more power.

Good stuff Boogar. I like your FH open ups. Looks like you have that pretty darn consistent and can get that any time you want.

Yeah when I played shorts pips in the past i found the inside-out FH & placement easier but no going back. Staying inverted. So my inverted loop tends to hook a little and yeah the cross-court loop is easier but I do try to practice that inside-out. It's a work in progress. You'd be surprised how many people you can catch out beginning to step around early.... Shoot I'm even guilty of that from time to time. :)

I'm no coach but based on what I saw there, looks like to me you have a consistent backhand but your money maker is your FH attack. Seems like that's the point winner. IDK. If you feel like you have the advantage a lot of times and they come back, maybe after you get that initial attack make sure you're almost playing like a penholder (ie - standing in your back corner) and keep hammering away with that good FH? Get as many of those hits in as possible to keep the pressure on? Just throwing out ideas.

I have those same issues so I know them. When you are in position, the shot is very different. IT's one of those things you come to accept - that you missed the time when you should have gotten heavy footwork training and just maximize what you can by staying on the balls of your feet and rocking on them.

As for looping backspin, just hook the ball all the time and you will figure out how to power loop it over time.

Thanks for your kind words! Jea I will try that out. However, somehow it feels strange to loop the returning ball. I am not sure on how I should contact the ball, I think im trying to brush it too much on the 5. ball attack... I should probably use a flatter contact.

On a side note I just came to the realization that to loop balls that are coming at you with a lot of speed you can open the bat angle more and hit more upwards, as the ball alrdy has enough speed and only needs spin.

Somewhere I read that to return a Ball efficiently you need to give it what it hasn't got already. For example a fast ball can be returned by spin and the other way round... This is pretty important i think :D

EDIT: I won my two matches in the Swiss cup against a player with 100 points more than me and one with about the same amount.
Lost the doubles tho... we managed to get from 5:10 to 11:10 ..., and then we lost in the fifth. :O

In all strokes on spinny balls, to remain consistent, spin avoidance is the key. You need to make first contact on the side of the ball and then figure out how to follow through to give it the spin you are looking for. This is also important for off the bounce strokes and it is why many people struggle to play close to the table or to loop backspin off the bounce. There is a limit to the amount of spin you can handle hitting the ball directly so the earlier you learn to make contact on the side of the ball, the sooner your game will rapidly advance.

Also stop trying to play up on every ball. Round the side and over is critical on topspin especially and not from the down to up on the back as you face better and better players. The heavy spin needs to be avoided.

My magic web inventory says our CEO has a few of ST and FL on hand with him. I will need to ask him of course, but he has good sense.

How can I buy the KJH?
