When I had her try it out, the rubber we put on it was Victas V>1. But she is having Paul David put T05fx on both sides. She has been using Evolution FXP on her old blade. And I told her she might have more control with that. But she said: "I've never had Tenergy. So I am getting that to put on it."

I had her try the Spear and my Virtuoso to see which one she would want as a Christmas present. :)

Hopefully in 2018 I will be able to start playing more. So long since I have really played a few days in a week.

Great. I hope she has lots of fun playing w/ her new setup.
And, good luck to you in your quest to get more playing time this year.

Maybe you’ve found a door forward?

Thanks. It's just one aspect of my game that I want to work on. But I don't want it to define me. I like the off the table big sidespin loops that being left handed curve away from right hander's BHs. It opens up a lot of possibilities.

I'm just looking for more consistent steady play close to the table in those quick exchanges if I'm short on time. Keep the strokes quick & compact with counterhits.

It's only one day but I think there's something there.

Post edit - Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that I found blocking power loops from my opponent easier also given in my mind the counter hit, which isn't a big swing, seems closely related to a standard block. I think the ready position (with the paddle out in front of you) helps here also as I think I've had a tendency to let it drop to my side in the past. Here in the ready position, it's a short movement to get it in the ready block or counter hit motion.

Blocking starts with getting right on the ball real soft grip and from there a little later impact and firmer grip gives more rebound and aggression. Yes, a block can be an aggressive offensive shot. Either way, a block for a winner or error counts for one point the same as if you smashed a winner and went into a CHO Tirade howling at the Moon like a loonie.

big news in nyc is the snow bomb/bomb cyclone that the u.s. east coast got. have my gear with me, not sure if the snow bomb scared off members or not. will head to club and keep the faster reset and shorten stroke in mind for tonight's focus.

I embolden that part because falling in love with the best aspects of your game at a certain level make it hard to get better. It's better to take risks with your game and be open to the fact that how you play in 6 months time may involve shots that you don't have now and that some of the shots you love now will rarely if ever feature 6 months from now because you have better things in your game.

I used to have a fantastic backhand hit vs underspin. It was (one of) my best shot(s). In fact, I used to think it was a backhand loop vs underspin until many coaches said it was not a loop and that I needed a loop to supplement the hit. Now, I can't remember the last time I hit underspin with my backhand. I just can't, the loop is more consistent, easier to deploy and deadly against most players even if they block it. But every so often, that backhand hit comes up on nostalgic conversations. So do my fast long backhand no spin serves, the fact I used to serve backhand pendulum all the time, the fact I had a good backhand hit etc. All interesting stuff for nostalgia.

Backing up to loop is a response to pressure. You can sidespin loop off the bounce at the table.

With He Zhiwen at my club right now, it's wrong to say that he uses lower physical effort. He still hits like a truck

Just curious, is HZW hitting with all members? Giving lessons? Did members take pix with him? Asked for his autograph?

2 days ago, he hit with some people in the club, but he's mostly giving lessons. He's ok with photos since it happens all the time. I don't know about autograph.

He would be good if OSP actually had a shovel serve to begin with.;)

Then how does he serve up the snow to clear the path? He clearly has a good one he just needs to use it at the table.

Ive been playing with the blade for the past 2 days with the robot. Still having trouble with 'counter-hitting' in the forehand side. The bat as a whole, combined with the rubber, seems softer than the carbonado, and when the ball contacts the bat, it doesn't fly off immediately, but instead sinks in more so. I feel I am not comfortable with that, and still haven't been able to 'counter-hit' properly with it, whereas I have no trouble with the carbonado. It is weird, and very frustrating.

Yesterday I was able to loop fine, but today for whatever reason, I have been missing alot of balls when I try to do so with the forehand. Not sure if I have subconsciously changed the blade angle or the way I hold the bat.

Backhand feels really comfortable and stable though with this blade. Again not sure if it is due to a change in the way I hold the bat.

Frustration building up.

Like I said the blade has one of the deepest dwells for any blade out there. Just hit with a slightly more circular counter hitting stroke and hit a little harder.

You need to think like an advanced player. You can't change equipment and loop exactly the same way, you have to adjust your contact point and swing trajectory slightly to increase your consistency.

I think I ripped up my rotator cuff a few years back living in upstate NY snow effect zone during one of those 6 ft snows... usually gotta pull hard on snow blower to start it, then push it around 1 hr TWICE from 0200 to 0500 (Snow blower only can handle 2-2.5 feet of snow) push 10 cars who drivers are idiots and never use snow/ice tires where it snows heavy, and get car unstuck from high center by extending arm and trying to blast away packed in snow from under car in hard to reach places...

Any of those things, including shoveling, can bust ur rotator cuff, ur back, your waist or ur nuts when it is -30 or -40 outside when you gotta do all that.
