Got myself national w968 and my first impressions are ... it's ok.

It has plenty of power and stability on regular FH and BH top spins, blocking is great too (comparing this to 301x is night and day, 301x is so so flexible, I can't do proper blocks against good players).

The thing I disliked the most is the new H3 OS prov. 39 degrees on the forehand side - it just sucks, it's not tacky and over the table plays lack spin, like, A LOT.

I have older H3 OS on my ZJK ALC and it's very good and tacky and spin is amazing.

I know someone on this forum said this many times, that newer versions of H3 OS prov. lack tackiness...I just had to confirm it myself.

On the FH side (whether it's because of this crappy untacky H3) the blade lacks feeling and spin when looping against backspin and with medium to low power - it went over the table a lot for me.
edited ^^^: when looping against backspin and with medium to low power.

Overall, I think it's in the same league (in terms of quality) with Butterfly Vis, ZJK ALC and other top butterfly blades, however it costs 2-3 times more depending on the number....I can't say it's worth it. I'll post a video with gameplay later today or tomorrow probably using that blade and crappy OS h3 :)

The thing is: I like older tacky H3 OS much more than new BS because it's easier to play and feeling is great (and it's cheaper!!), but now I don't know what to do

It's definitely due to the orange sponge, a blue sponge should feel a lot better on that blade.

In the beginning of 2024 I order 4 provincial H3 BS from TTnPP. From the picture I could tell it was the old stock, and I am glad I am right!!! I personally prefer the old H3, much better control and easier to execute various shots.

The new H3 are just rubbish. Not just the lack of tack, but the topsheet lacks the grip even compared to mid-range Euro/Jap rubbers. I heard a rumour that DHS made the provincial H3 poor quality but remain the excellent quality in the national batch.

I played vega China, J&H H52.5 on FH briefly, they did so much better than the new H3.

Bought my latest H3N provincial in late November 2024, the grip is excellent and the tack is decent.
I genuinely haven't encountered any "Bad Hurricanes".

710S are normally the rubber you get in the provincial team. It has slightly better performance and might be harder. Quality control is still not good, though.

The normaly H3N provincial is made for the public. 710S series are for professional teams.
Beats me why DHS has so many versions.

Totally agree, I only use H3 39 Orange Provincial. I never tried the old with tons of tackiness. The new H3 still is spinnier than any ESN rubber. The grip after 4 months is still excellent with all tackiness gone.

Cheers

Well, here's my first try with w968. Many mistakes since I usually play with ZJK ALC and this blade needs adjustment, but this fh H3 prov. OS 39 sucks big time...very little spin.
w968 and zjk alc are very different blades, one is inner carbon, the other is outer. ZJK ALC has more low end speed so you can brush more than hit. But with W968 you have to hit more than brush, now try to open up the angle and apply more direct force

it's interesting that BH with H3 is very, very good feeling and easy to perform. Many people say that BH is the weakness of w968 and inner structures in general, but my piece feels good on the BH.

I will change the fh rubber and see how it goes

In the description/comment of the video, you say you miss the old tacky H3 - try Loki Rxton 9 H39 (H40,5 also available).

Is it a completly new blade? My W968 needed a few sessions of training to settle in. The first training it felt slow and dead on both sides with BH slightly less dead.

After 2 weeks it was ridiculous how the FH felt compared to the first time. Might be the blades fault instead of the rubber.

never heard of such things with blades. Maybe humidity (or constant water based glue application) can affect the play, other than that I don't think anything can change.

Decent level of play but why do you expect W968 + H3 to perform well if you only slightly brush the ball? Both these blade and rubber require strong forward motion and body strength, while you play like it's Viscaria + T05.
Plus, you also tend to put the ball with a high arc closer to the edge, which is naturally (at least for H3) the least spinnable variant of the ball.

It's this blade quality (the ball trajectory goes long, check out Table Tennis Gan review - he said so as well, and he is much highel level than me...) and I said that I was testing this for the first time. Prov. H3 BS did very well on this blade.

edit: will -> well

The biggest adjustment is just how big the head is on the w968 national. There's a noticeable difference as to where you need to hit the ball. It's a little higher up on the blade because of the length.
