Dignics 05 1.9 or 2.1?

Hi,
I am looking to buy Dignics 05 for BH for Viscaria, but not sure if I should get 1.9 or 2.1. I don't like too hard of a feeling, but want to make sure I have enough control. I have slightly faster rubber on viscaria right now, but I tried 1.9 today on Jike Super ZLC, which is a slightly faster blade, and 1.9 was good close to the table, but barely enough away.

Thoughts on the thickness?

Just curiosity, should you really be using such a rubber if you still worry about control? [emoji848]

Anything can be controlled with a bit of getting used to. But whether Dignics will allow him to do anything he can't with the Gewo, that's debatable.

The reason I worry about control is not because I can't handle Dignics, I've played with it on different blades, its very controllable, but because I like certain feel of a rubber on my BH and on my FH. So maybe "control" is not the right word.
For example, I do not like T05 1.9 on my BH (prefer 2.1), but I like it on my FH. Today I tried 1.9 Dignics 05 on a different blade, but the blade itself is more stiff and reactive than my Viscaria, and rubber 1.9 felt fairly soft, so I am not sure how it would fit Viscaria. Plus Dignics 05has way more control than T05.
Level wise I don't have an issue handling T05 or Dignics05, but i am roughly 1700 US, and I don't think I NEED it for my level. However, I have some gift cards to burn, so I've decided to try it.

So I got black and red Dignics 05 2.1.
Honestly, so far (3 hrs), rubber is a breeze to control.
Rubber is pretty fast, but short game is easy. Its fairly direct, but gives a lot of spin. Lifting backspin is effortless.
BH it plays simply amazing since I hit it for the 1st time.
FH will take me a little time to adjust on loops because I was playing with chines rubber for a while, but it was good as well, just a bit more difficult to powerloop because of a different throw angle.

I know sometimes when you play 1st time with new rubber it seems amazing and then you start seeing problems, so maybe will write a short update in a week.

By the way, somebody made a comment about Gewo, and while Gewo is still very good, Dignics is much easier to control in my opinion.

I fully agree each rubber feels different on different blades ...
and i have one blade which is not good in feel with dignics but perfectly fits with Cornilleau Target Pro GT-H47 and opposite on second blade where dignics feels perfect and Cornilleau not . .

Reviving this thread because I couldnt find more info on this topic, and because it could be helpful for someone in the future. I have been using D05 in 2.1mm on my backhand for a few months now. All around, it has been great (especially durability!!), but it was slightly too difficult to control, especially in serve return and passive blocking.

So, I bought 1.9mm , and this is exactly what I needed. It feels a bit firmer (max sponge is usually a softer feeling), and it is of course slower. Now, passive blocking is actually really efficient with the 1.9mm version, and I feel way more confident in my active blocking as well. I overshot alot with the 2.1mm version. For me personally, 1.9 version has the perfect mix of speed and spin, and it is alot less unforgivable than the 2.1mm version. With the 2.1 version, you always have to play actively.

I bought the 1.9mm D05 in a butterfly store, and the guy there told me that the spin between both versions is the same, it is just the speed difference. From my testing I agree with this. Another nice thing about the 1.9mm version is that it only added 46g to my racket, 2.1 version was 49g.

Cheers

I think the better option is actually to switch to D80 which blocks better but that is just me.

From what I have heard the durability of D80 is worse than D05

tbh durability is one of the main reasons if not the main reason why I am using D05. it stays grippy forever its crazy

hopefully I can try out D80 some day though. can you compare it with D05?

Don't know about durability but it is pretty much the same with imperceptibly less spin and more speed, the blocks and counters are a bit more forgiving.

D05 on ZJK Super ZLC? That setup could potentially win you a gold medal at the Olympics.

I'm not talking about OP. I'm curious about some beginners in my club. Their rackets are more advanced than pros. I don't understand why!? I think they're victims of aggressive marketing by the manufacturers.

Funnily, they were defeated by trained kids using all-wood blades and common rubbers from Donic or Xiom. Many of us, trained beginners, were able to beat them as well.

When the seniors advised them to downgrade their rackets, they refused to listen. Unfortunately, no one wants to give advice anymore because some of them are too stubborn.

Edit: IMO, they should invest their money getting coached or spend more time working on techniques with a buddy.

Unpopular opinion but D05 is not even a marketing scheme (for me).

Most ESN rubbers I have used are completly cooked after 3 month usage (4-5 times practise a week)

D05 last me way longer than 6 months, I can use it for about a year. You could argue that I‘d play better with a slightly slower ESN rubber, but practise and getting used to my setup is way more significant than ~5-10% less spin sensitivity / catapult or whatever.

In that sense, D05 is economical and fun to play. Note that it is common to get 10-20% discount on BTY equipment in my area.

Perhaps it's the "trained" part that made the difference rather than the setup.
