my rubbers should arrive next week. Quick question: Does 09c need "break in" time? Or it performs well right from first moment?
I remember how huge a difference the hybrid K3 was after just 3-4 hours of play. My initial experience almost made me depressed haha.

It has been almost 6 months now. How is your D09c?

Thanks for the topic btw, I am on the same path.

Only 4 months imo, after that it becomes a brick of sorts with no tackiness and much reduced spin generation capabilities.
4months of how many hours per week? When it comes to duration people should be saying the amount of hours which actually matters.

Dignics 09c loves foil and didnt like regluing
The sponge is boosted and after 3 x gluing session the sponge lost a lot of booster so for me, no more regluing and the topsheet is still brand new.

The grippy feature last a month and the rubber is really good but after that is just like any other soft no grip rubber and it plays different with way more failure rate, if you are an all attack player you wont feel it much until you try to be tactical or play all around at this time the rubber will not do what told it to do, if you can live with that it will last like a year until you destroy it.

D09C lasts a long time!! The tack remains for a year for me

No way. My previous G09C rubber was still tacky after 6 months. I played around 4-5 times a week, 1-3 hours per session (excl. rest) incl. single-ball drills. Only the visual appearance showed wear and tear but the playing characteristics felt like the rubber still 80% new. D09C rubber should last at least as long as or longer than G09C rubber.

it plays different with way more failure rate,
Can you elaborate on this? What do you mean by failure rate? And after how long did you notice that?
if you are an all attack player you wont feel it much until you try to be tactical or play all around at this time the rubber will not do what told it to do
How does the ball go where you want if attacking but not go where you want if being 'tactical'?
Do you mean you can't block with it anymore?

Sorry, your post is very vague and I cannot understand what you mean at all...

First to clarify i will use two simple terms, grippy & sticky, the grippy rubbers relies on porosity and sticky on the rubber stickiness for lifting the ball, slow & spinny, pushes with quality spin, service, even with changing the rotation axis so the opponent have trouble figuring the spin incoming, to my game this features are very important because i'm very precise, i play all around with pushes and underspin around 25% of the time and when i need to all attack game like a maniac. D09c looses that grippy texture l(Its not a sticky rubber) after a month( for me, i guess will last more or less for some people). After a month you can clearly see without a magnifying glass how worn out is and i can feel how my shoots are failing more often, if you hit harder or play like a maniac of course you will make the ball sink into the rubber and that will make the trick. For $90 in US the cost & the rubber is not worth it, if i was a sponsored maybe i will use it on my backhand. There are people that will play it until the rubber is destroyed & bubbled up and they won't even care/notice how it plays and tolerate this stuff and that is the majority of people but I'm not one of them. I use it only on my backhand, in the forehand is not good for me even new, i use only sticky rubbers now.

i just read in a review of the dignics 09c that the "c" stands for circular sponge which was meant to mean that there are little gel filled pockets or gel particles in the sponge. I never heard of that before and now i think it might be a reason for its durability. I would assume that air in the sponge pores would somehow permeate from the sponge more quickly than gel.

I reckon that was an April 1 post and someone having a bit of fun 😉
The C stands for 'Compatible Friction'.
I had to visit the Butterfly site to get their explanation of it but they say that it signifies that the rubber's top sheet is designed to balance high friction with high tension, allowing for both powerful and controlled play.

I play on average 8-10 hours a week. D09c is great for about 2 weeks, after that the sponge loses a bit of spring but remains pretty good for I actually don't know how long because the topsheet will wear out first. The topsheet is solid at least for my level for about 1-2 months, after that it's like @Serg said, it starts to fail with finer brushing strokes at increasing rate. I've used it for up to 4 months, but as my level increases it's starting to get hard to make it to 3 months.

I was given a black sheet free of charge by a club-mate; a pre-owned D09C that is four months old. It still is very grippy. It's sticky is gone but no less grippy. The sponge is less trampolinish. In short, it is deader than new but but but.... I love it! This makes the control even deadlier, for my opponent, not me.

Coming from Tenergy, I noticed something missing from D09C. In Tenergy 05, the edge is very crumbly just like biscuits. The side just chip off and off and off. However, this used four months old D09C do not seem to have this aesthetic issue. This is definitely a plus for me.
