you are right, but this is just to even the playing field, so it isn't just Europe vs Asia like in the past.Just crazy the continental advantage being eligible to be locked into Oceania and Latin America.
It does hold some merit, but I would want a discount in those points and not full 500.
But that is just life now.
Australia number 1 by default is top 50 in the world basically.
@Tony's Table Tennis you only compete with the rules set up in place. Wouldn’t it be strategic to have a promising junior under your care immigrate to such continents especially if there is family connections involved?
I do remember ITTF set up rules but it doesn’t really become punitive unless you are over 18?
In this hypothetical example the junior can register to naturalise to Oceania/Latin America and continue to compete in league in their original country or Germany/France?
Once in the WTT broken system, they are pretty much guaranteed a top 40 world ranking.
We do have Hildy Chen and Jessica Lai that has gone the USA route - following Sally Moyland.
And Jessica actually has a shot at LA 2028.
Hildy was U15 national in Taiwan, but Sally was a top U18 in Taiwan.
All 3 still trains full time in Taiwan.
There was another girl who has Australian citizenship and I actually suggested her about 2032 OG, but she has put up her racket (boot) for academic, and has entered the top girls school (by academic points) in Taiwan. She had U19 Taiwan national colors at age 14 and would have no problem become U19 Aus no1 at 14 years (she is 16 now) and fight for an OG spot in the coming years.
we had Singapore scouting some of our kids before, from age 12/13, but the brothers didn't end up going.
There is an Australian kid training full time in Taiwan
Eli Ho of NZL also spends a lot of time in Taiwan
These 2 are Taiwanese immigrants come back to train.
and I think immigration/naturalizing is not on many peoples radar as many still want to be part of Taiwan's system. Just like league isn't, until I got involved and exporting 20+ players.
