The umpires woke up 24 hours too late. Or Gauzy might be playing the final now lol... more seriously though, they need to get Alexis to fix these serves before a TTR tournament gets him faulted serially. Even Truls tries - this is ridiculous.

Okay. Since I might be blind and biased, give me your best Zeljko match that shows off his physical gifts.
I'm not gonna pretend I'm unbiased here, Zeljko is Croatian, what would be the point?

He has shown his athletic prowess on many occasions, but his surprise win against Samsonov as a teenager comes to mind. We had high hopes for that boy.

I know you are biased. Hence my Nigerian example. But the thing is that I have never looked at Zeljko and gone wow, his physical gifts are amazing. Lots of good young players who didn't meet outsized expectations out there. Franziska is notorious in Germany for example and some look at him and go wow. And with Alexis, I am just talking about how he cracks the forehand, I struggle to think of many players who can hit the ball with that quality.

For players who are not elite top players, I watch Borassaud hit the ball and go wow. Sometimes I used to watch O. Ionescu and Kiril Skachkov (on backhand) and feel the same way. They didn't need to beat anyone for me to feel that way. But Zeljko, I never looked at him and felt "He got the power!" With Alexis, I have seen him hit and felt that only Hugo does that ...

Bernie only served one type of serve throughout the match as well (use pendulum for two points in a lost game, but used tomhawk exclusively otherwise). Someone has to win and someone has to lose, it isn't about having one serve.
Um, Bernadette? She has at least three different serves from various positions to the FH/BH or in the middle of her opponent. All things I missed with Charlotte. Every serve is identical, half/long to the middle of Bernadette from the same position. Only two of her last four services were slightly different, but by then the match was already over. When you don't try anything with your service and you can clearly see that it's not helping, I think you need to get some tactical coaching from your coach or do some research yourself to find a key to turning the game around.

No doubt about the women's final. Sabine Winter beats Bernie Szocs at 4,4,4. Congratulations Sabine!
That was easy to predict. Bernadette can't play against equipment, that's been clear for a long time. But what I find most troubling is her relationship with her coach. It doesn't seem 100% to me. Did you see how she snatched her water bottle from her coach's hand and snapped at him during her match against Lunz? I also suspect that she doesn't want to learn how to play against material; she just doesn't seem interested. Time and again, she makes the most foolish shots. The learning process may be long, but if her character isn't up to it, I fear she won't get anywhere in the future when she comes up against material players.

Maybe be she is a little spoiled girl the way treating her coach. On the other hand, she may indeed need a coach, preferably a Chinses coach who usually is good at adapting her opponent with a particular style or equipment. I remember she had already been crushed by Sabine twice and somehow, she was crushed again. As one of top EU female players, she should be able adapt.

A player who has beaten Yang Xiaoxin and Han Ying and Xioana Shan is not complaining just about material. She also has issues with playing Sabine in general.

Hugo by and large only has one serve as well. Most of Bernie's serves were tomahawk into the forehand alt the variations didnt do much. My main point is that it is easy to read from the result to limitations of the player but I suspect even if Lutz had a different serve, the result would largely have been thr same as Bernie is the better player.

The one player that I thought could have damaged Sabine's chances was Annett Kaufmann. Fortunately for Sabine (or maybe not, depending on form), Annett got to play with Han Ying instead and Han Ying took her out. Sabine to be fair took out a pretty dangerous and underrated Xiaona Shan. I do think Kaufmann will have overtaken Han and Sabine by the time LA rolls around. She already made great progress vs Han Ying pretty quickly.
