Okay, so let's get this straight from my view.
I like Jupiter 3, I also think it's very fast. But both J3 and H3 feel totally differently than K3 in actual play.
Let's not kid ourselves, for the price of J3, 15 USD, or LAC for ~22-23USD they perform crazy good.
I would say that the LAC reaches into the C2 territory and in that regards the Dragon Grip territory. Both rubbers are miles more expensive without giving that extra performance. I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt that
@longle 's case is unique and he just chews out rubbers like there is no tomorrow. I think the LAC topsheet is superior to C2 (or other C-touch) but the sponge is not. I would really love a combination of both. C2/K3 sponge with LAC topsheet.
But DG nor C2 doesn't bubble up on you after 10 hours. Would I still buy a C2 over a LAC for 50% more money? Nope.
I really have a love and hate relationship with K3, I love to hate on it all the time. Not just K3, but the whole C-touch top sheet brigade. The topsheet wears too soon. 1 month, maybe 2 in some cases and it's just worn.
But remove the durability issues and the K3 really performs well as new. That cannot be taken away from that sheet.
I probably liked that sheet the best when I used it first, it had enough of everything. Enough bounce, speed, and forgiveness. A 2nd best would be Glayzer 09c to be honest. But G09c has a more defined character with being very slow (almost like H3) on weak impact and giving a pretty heavy boost on strong shots. If you cannot get used to that it will screw you over. I would rate LAC, J3, H3, D09c after all these...
K3 being soft. Okay, I hear you. It has softeness, but it doesn't drop the ball. Soft rubbers drop the ball when you counter. For me countering is over the table counter. Stepping back 2 meters and driving the opponent's drive or topspin is not countering. Over-the-table countering is probably the most impressive and deadly shot in table tennis while stepping back and driving is a comfort shot.
K3 doesn't drop the ball over the table, it doesn't give you unreasonable "excess lift" or "excess """"thorw-angle""""" while its softness lets you hit down on the wood. I only found this in G09c. D09c doesn't provide this feature and most rubbers also don't. (that being said D09c might be tuned to harder and spinnier incoming shots)
Actual Chinese rubbers like H3BS or Dingtian just ignore the opponent's spin, and since the sponge is dense they automatically hit down on the wood. They are very good at countering as well. No excess lift, not balls being dropped, it just works fantastically.
I will say LAC is very good at countering over the table. It has chinese stlye topsheet, so doesn't drop the ball because loss of grip, the sponge is hard and semi dense so it hits down on the wood but gives a milisecond of contact time due to the bubbles. Not as comfortable as K3 new but it just works. For some reason, I can counter with LAC over the table very comfortably and with high accuracy.
But K3 cut is 48-49g, G09c 48-49g, D09c 50-51g. LAC 53g, C2 53g, Rakza Z, 53-55g, H3N OS 52-3g...
TL;DR LAC is great for its price and has several capabilities that contest if not exceed H3 BS national or D09c or K3.
But the 41 deg LAC for me lacks the top-end speed of K3 and G09c and the lightness. Can it be fixed with a layer of booster? Probably the speed can but the weight can't be. Will LAC survive that? I have my doubts.
K3 is not perfect but when new it is very-very good.
I think
@longle stated somewhere that G09c is too soft to handle on FH. Maybe on a Stiga XX blade it is which is an outer full carbon koto blade. On a softer touch blade it doesn't feel out of place so much. Why do I say this? Since I tried G09c on W968 and outer Koto ZLC blade as well. On W968 it just performs miles better.
TL;DRRR: G09c has no topsheet durability issues, no weight issues, fast and slow depending on what you want.
It works very well on BH too since light and Chiquita and countering with it is superb. Hell, Chiquita with G09c is probably the best out of any rubber.
And that is my conclusion that G09c is the most bang for the buck hybrid rubber.
