Congratulations on getting your first Hurricane Neo 39 blue sponge! Deciding whether to boost it or not depends on your preference for speed and spin. Boosting can enhance the sponge’s performance, making it faster and spinnier, but it also changes the feel and requires careful application.

As for the blade, since you've been using an outer composition blade with D09c, switching to an inner composition might give you a different feel with more control and dwell time. However, sticking with an outer composition like the Viscaria or Ovtcharov ALC will provide a more direct and faster response, which pairs well with the Hurricane’s tacky surface. The FZD SALC could offer a balanced feel between speed and control due to its special ALC fiber placement. Ultimately, it depends on whether you prioritize speed and power (outer composition) or control and spin (inner composition).
Thank you for your response and advices.

Ovtcharov alc is really not like regular inner force it’s closer to the outer in terms of feeling and speed. I have played with different outer composition for the last year or more. I mostly used Viscaria SALC/FZD ALC/LGY ALC/Ovtcharov ALC all of them I like and find enjoyment to play with.

But I already put H3 on Ovtcharov - will see what boosted Hurricane is all about - very interesting 🤓

I have glued the rubber - it was not so easy considering me doing it for the first time - so it’s looked not so fancy as it can be probably.

I did serving a bit - it was very easy to serve short. Will trying it out fully tomorrow in the training hall 🫡

The rubber looks like
Yeap, not perfect, but playable. In the next tries you will find how to glue without bumps in the middle of the rubber

I was not applying first layer properly. Only after it got dry I saw that places where I was not so precise with amount of Sea Moon looked differently. Second layer was much cleaner but first one ruined it a bit already and nothing I could do.
But it would be my lesson 😁

Yeah, there is no sense to wait uncurl. Because we need to get tension on topsheet so uncurl sheet should be glued.
If you have no sealing on the racket surface it will be fine without putting weight over.
Depends on amount of booster you can get a curved (just a little) edge of rubber. But its also totally fine. You can see that effect on chinese player’s rackets during matches on closeups. Like at this picture you can see bending of the edges and it totally ok View attachment 31412
Is this a regular HL5 or a W968 version? What’s the backhand rubber? I play with 09C on my prov W968 but want to find a cheaper alternative

I was searching for cheaper alternative but I admit that there is no alternative :D
I’m thinking either provicial H8 37 or provincial H3 37 boosted with 2 layers. I’ve played H3 37 on Bh before but i didn’t like it. Now i’m thinking it’s probably because I put it on a super viscaria and it doesn’t suit the blade. Plus, I only boosted with one layer so that might be the case. I mainly got 09C for the better arc and blocking speed, but now I might go back to a hurricane for cheaper

I tried the H3 37 on the W968, boosted 2 or 4 layers, did not like it at all.

H8-80 is an excellent BH rubber for inner carbon blades if you boost and can handle the weight. Compared to D09C, it's harder to engage the sponge on low effort shots, i.e. slower, has lower arc, but it's spinnier and the top speed is faster. On the BH side, I feel like it's easier for me to loop down my opponent with H8-80 than D09C on the Nittaku So-ten. On the Viscaria, the D09C is still the best BH rubber, though. That combination is like an automated BH machine, lol.

I’ve heard a lot of bad quality control issues with H8-80 but PROTT has a provincial version of both H8 and H8-80. I might pick up one of these depending on which one is better with 2 layers booster

Damn, maybe I’ll try the H8 37
I like the H8 37 actually. Haven't tried the provincial versions, but the commercial one I had felt pretty good. Back when I tried it there were no provincial versions so I didn't wanna deal with the commercial one's poor quality control (I've heard weight varying by as much as 10 grams for the same hardness). If I were to go back to the W968 I might give the provincial one another try.

The best BH rubber I've tried is boosted D09c though. It feels like a blend of D09c and Tenergy. Still got good touch but easier to hit into like T05, makes a nice sound, great speed and spin. When my current D09c starts to get a bit old in another month or two, I'm gonna boost it with 2 layers of FTL.

The H8-80 I had was hugely different in weights and was also too heavy for me. I also like boosted D09c but find D05 even better and slightly closer to T05.

However I am also on a Hurricane journey and have a couple of sheets of pros and nat 39 deg on my blades right now and am liking it very much (2 layers Kailin oil)

So guys, I did a three hours of training. Half of them exercises - another one training matches.

Few observations about H3 - I’m glad I boost it, it less sticky than my D09c for some reason. It is more safer rubber if I can say so. There is some angles when you loop with D09c sometimes it is harder to hit the desired spot - and H3 is doing it more easily in that situations. But I’m not sure that it would be my “go to” rubber right now. It suited pretty well on Ovtcharov alc blade.

Will see - maybe I’ll change my mind with some more additional training but it is what it is for now.
