I think I saw something about Kyoka Idesawa of Japan returning. Last time in 2023 in Chengdu, she beat both Qian Tianyi (WR 6 at the time) and He Zhuojia in the Women's Team final. In the Women's Singles final, she took Qian to 7 games. Qian won 4 gold medals there.

I saw on IG that MLTT player Kotomi Omoda will also be competing for Japan.

The USA team is led by Sid Naresh and Ved Sheth, both from University of California - Berkeley. Nikhil Kumar just graduated from there but didn't try out for this. The other 3 members of the US men's team all go to UCLA.
The women's team is led by Joanna Sung and Angie Tan of UCLA, and Angie's sister Emily. Joanna's sister Rachel won a bronze medal in WD last time with Amy Wang but I believe both decided not to compete this year.

Omoda had game point in game 2, but she got too anxious. Actually had Wang Xiaotong on the ropes, but overhit a BH counter. Match was winnable, but she needed to calm down and execute.
Also got faulted multiple times for hiding the contact with her head on serves.
