Seattle is a top "scene" for table tennis clubs. Some of the top players in the U.S. are located there and coach quite a bit. However the level of play up there is extremely competitive and you will need to keep at it if you want to get better. Getting coached can be quite expensive and if you're an adult I would say that a lot of coaches up there will be happy to help you, but don't expect to be a top player any time soon. The kids have a learning curve much more aggressive nowadays than back in my youth or even older players childhoods.
Your first step should be to grab a paddle. Some people may ask you to purchase a custom paddle, but I recommend that you buy a paddle that is cheap first with soft rubbers to help you spin the ball. Then when you are ready to get coached you'll have something they can teach you with. If you go out and get a custom blade or buy something from them it'll be breaking the bank and you won't be able to learn as quickly.
I'd say look for a seattle club and just keep taking lessons or practicing with friendly players. If you keep showing up people will be more friendly and will likely play a little longer with you.
Also keep an eye out as I am within the next month here releasing a beginners tutorial from the National Champ Peter Li.
