Hi all

Can anyone explain the Gewo rubbers to me?

I understand most of ESN lineup, evolutions between product lines but Gewo have such a range of rubbers, and there is so little info online. - Nexus, codexx, Inventus, Hype etc nevermind the variations EL, XT, KR & superselect versions

Side note - how can they afford to have such a large lineup? I've seen 1 person use Gewo rubbers in 10+ years of playing.

I like that there's so much choice but with so little actual information seems pointless.

I agree that their lineup is very confusing (I dont get it either)

But to put it into perspective, I live in Northern Germany, and here almost every beginner uses gewo gear, so gewo is quite popular depending on where you live.

@NomuraTrickshots might be able to offer some help or point to good resources. But from their main products I know Nexxus is their somewhat older soft/spinny line, Codexx is their hybrid line and Inventus is their most recent line supposed to be a better version of Nexxus.

There are several Tensor "generations" and their variants.

The Hype series has been around for a while. You could say it fits in with other "I´d really like to be tenergy05" rubbers produced by ESN for quite some time.

Nexxus is Gewo´s version of the technology that had a thinner topsheet to allow for a thicker max sponge. Andro did this first and called them Ultramax sponges, with other brands calling them max+, maxx, or whatever.

With Super Select, my guess is there´s a slight difference in performance. Again, comparing to andro, they have Rasanter 37,42,47 and 50 alongside 45,48 and 53, the latter three using the Energy Cell sponge which makes them a bit more performant. GEWO claims that the Super Select series was previously only available to their top players, kinda like Donic released BlueStorm pro to the masses. Could be.

Inventus is just a new Tensor addition and Elaxxon is kind of an in-between rubber for people who´d like to upgrade from something like Proton or Neoflexx but not go all in.

The Codexx rubbers are hybrids, slightly sticky.

In general, EL (elastic) is the spin-oriented version, while XT is the more direct, speed-oriented version of a rubber.
Lastly, KR stands for Korea. GEWO is successful in Korea, where they partnered with first Olympic Champion Yoo Nam-Kyu.

Lately, rubber descriptions in the main Contra (parent company) shop are about 6 meters long so you´d scroll yourself tired, and full of technology abbreviations only GEWO understands. But some of the rubbers are quite good.

It appears there is now also a new range of hybrid rubbers, the ICONIXX-HXT series, available in the following hardness levels: 45, 48, 50 & 55.

It doesn’t seem to me to be a coincidence that Gewo is now launching these rubbers shortly after Andro released its HY-Q series. I wonder if this new series from Gewo is in line with the new Andro models.

I doubt this, since HY-Q is an attractively priced "middle-class" series at 49.95 and these Gewo are 69.90, which makes them the GEWO top product, in price at least.

Should be something more performant, like a more sticky Nexxus or less sticky Codexx.

NUZN would spring to mind, but Andro reduced the 48 and 45 in power by composition, not only by sticking a softer sponge underneath, and consequently in price.

Waiting for first impressions...

They weren't on the Schöler-Micke website yesterday, but unlike Contra, I can see them now.
