Hi All, I have got my 2 new rubber Stiga DNA Helix M hardness. People have been telling me it plays very soft so I am at a dilema for whoch blade to buy as if I buy the Harimoto ALC i feel it would just be too arcy and not direct but I also want to mainitain the control of my current blade which is Petr Korbel with G1 both sides.

Try the rubbers on the Korbel first.
Then you can decide.
But you might be putting the cart before the horse.
Typically, people will change rubbers much more than they change blades.
Wouldn't it make more sense to find the blade you are most comfortable with first?
And then decide what rubbers to use

I would but I dont want to waste a load of money and also a korbel with these soft rubbers will be too soft.

So which wuld be best for Helix M which is relatively soft
Helix M is pretty medium in hardness, definitely a tic softer than G1 but it's not that soft. And it really depends on what you want- Harimoto will produce a shorter higher arc than the Ovtcharov, but I don't think Ovtcharov is a difficult blade either. Try the rubbers on Korbel first, it its too much arc for you then get Ovtcharov, Harimoto acts more like Korbel than Ovtcharov.

I would but I dont want to waste a load of money
Butterfly blades hold value pretty well especially if you don't put many hours on it, would it be difficult for you to resell the blade if you end up disliking it?

Unpopular opinion…. They are so similar, does it really matter? Get the handle you like the most!

If people want to get really granular…. The Harimoto is slower and feels “softer” or more “woody”.

The Ovtcharov feels MORE like a classic outer carbon blade - There’s still a bit more woody feel, but it is definitely faster than the Harimoto.

So I’d base it purely on speed.

Closest to an outer ALC, pick the Ovtcharov.

Slower and more woody - Harimoto.

While they are broadly for offensive players, they are not that similar, no. Harimoto blades really absorb to the ball to a degree that not everyone will like. They have a much bigger pillow dynamic that any Butterfly carbon blade I have ever played with.

I will die on this hill (maybe the wrong place for this opinion though) 😂

People get far too caught up in the tiny details - Especially at the level most of us are at.

I could slap Dignics on the Harimoto and Ovtcharov and the difference in how they play will be virtually identical.

One is faster, one is slower - But we are talking tiny margins here. I don’t think the difference is enough to affect my results.
Ovtcharov innerforce. no?
it is. But it feels closer to an outer carbon blade than any other inner carbon I’ve played with.

So I think I am going to settle with the Harimoto Alc just because I will adapt quicker from the Korbel

I will take that bet for sure. You will hate the Harimoto ALC with Digincs 09c on both sides.

Maybe someone has one in Dusseldorf!

I used it with D05 on both sides and then switched to the OALC with the same rubbers.

Again…. I just don’t think the difference warrants a huge decision. But that’s just my personal opinion!

Funnily enough, I have a completely different experience.

The difference between the Ovtcharov and Harimoto seems pretty noticeable to me.

Whether it actually had a meaningful impact on play is debatable, but the Ovtcharov felt noticeably more crisp and I can't imagine ever going back to using the Harimoto ALC again.

I agree that people get caught up on the tiny details. I don't think the difference between the HALC and OALC are tiny details...one is a clear offensive blade that is popular among heavy hitters and the other is OFF- at best when it comes to swinging hard.

.2mm in thickness is quite a difference. The Butterfly chart captures the difference rather well. Harimoto IALC would feel less stiff and closer to Petr Korbel.
