When I saw Harimoto go for the reverse serve, I was like WTF, and then he goes deep into the backhand with heavy backspin and Liang dumps it in the net. I felt as if the popup in game 1 set him up for that. Genius. Some players are doing it right.

And the game point in Game 3 to take the game - pivot forehand? Is this Harimoto?

Harimoto says he told himself to improve his game and focus on his forehand.

He proceeds to play 90% of the match using only his backhand.

Good win for him anyway.
You and I are watching different matches. You must have missed the forehand on many key points. Moreover, if there is a player that will make you use your backhand, his name is Liang Jingkun.

Using the backhand almost always (90%) is a choice. He scored some decisive points with his forehand, but this contrasts with his statements. Other forehand-oriented players would have used the forehand pivot much more or would have tried to move forehand vs forehand during exchanges.

Alright, when those forehand oriented players beat Liang Jingkun, we can discuss it.

Yes, maybe the goal was to keep Togami away from WCQ who owns him, but I feel Shinozuka poses even less threat of an upset. Lets see..
Shinozuka actually held match points in their very first encounter.
