ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2026, 3/30-4/5

says Miwa does it!
So I have to make this point because I think toss angle of 30 degrees is now being misunderstood like the 6 inch height is being misunderstood. The toss is supposed to be vertical. As in zero degrees. Straight up. 30 degrees is the deviation from vertical to allow for when a serve is being tossed up or not. Now people are making it about being close to 30 degrees rather than the fact that these tosses don't go straight up! 25 degrees is not vertical either! It is just tolerated because of the distance between where the ball is tossed and contacted on some serves.

And yes, serves of the hook or reverse variety come with toss verticality issues for various reasons. But as Duda and others have shown, it is quite possible.
Exactly the thoughts that came to my mind when Truls was arguing about one of his 30+. The tendency to treat leeway inscribed in the rule as a rule itself.
Sora is a bulldozer
Oh my, I dislike Truls more and more with every match. What was this 'What are you doing!?' towards the assistant umpire handing the ball to Matsushima rather than him at 3:1? If you need to take it out on someone, take it out on yourself, boy.

I think Truls' drama over appointing his brother and dismissing the national association alongside the national coach and other players is a bigger deal than being cocky at the table :)

I can only guess :) However, I don't watch that and I passionately watch this. And when I'm watching him at the table I'm often getting the vibe of a teenager in growing pains. Being mean or condescending to anybody around because you have a problem is excusable for me in case of teenagers. Past that age it becomes harder and harder to accept.

no one else has ever played like that and made it to the top, sora is just insane when he's on
His legs are even more impressive than FZD, and WCQ pales compared to him. I think Sora is THE ONE.

I surely wasn't expecting that from him even 3 years ago, he used to look so flail.

©Zyre kills the game. We ought to reduce the sandwich thickness to 3.5 millimeters rather than 4 millimetres. The limit of 4 mm is an obsolete standard remaining unchanged since the year 1959.

It's quite incredible the hatred China has for Japan. Every game a japanese player is playing the whole crowd cheers for the opponent more than if a chinese player is playing.

Also I never understood why in table tennis there is always 80% girls watching the sport in china. Every other sport in the world is dominated by men spectators.

You're mixing up the WCQ/SYS fangirls (the majority if not all of the spectators in the stand) with the real table tennis fans in China. There is a substantial population of Tieba/Douban/Hupu/Weibo/Douyin users who root for JNT players, provided they don't put a target on their back by spouting politically-charged comments.

RTHK32 color commentator Lau Yiu Cho kept pointing to the issue of CXT playing too safe during and after G3.

WS QF
CXT WR3 1-4 SYB WR14 (-8, 9, -10, -0, -9)
G3 ]107, 1012
G4 011
G5 710, 910 TO for SYB, 911

SYB 1W4L CXT

From the way Hayata started missing, the pain probably started between G4 and G5.

Best chance to beat CXT gone, after Hirano started the momentum at ATTC 2024.

The only reason it was close is because CXT played safe and kept brushing the ball when the seamless ball is more suitable for hitting.

No less sad that this fraction of the population (though clearly not the most rational one) happens to also be anti Japan.

JNT players: We eat Winter for breakfast and yet she gets a medal (as lucky as it can get)...

Ito played a grand total of 2 matches (3-0 Shahsavari of IRI and 3-2 Szocs) at WTTC 2024, just one more than Kihara (3-0 Patel of RSA). How many will WYD get to play this time?

The players you throw shade at (Sabine, Sora, Satsuki, Shin Yubin, etc) seem to come up with some amazing results. I guess you throwing shade at players is sort of a reverse indicator.
