This is IMHO clearly throwing the match while using it to collect information.
Turns out JJH went to the ER. JJH says she was going to play XD with JWJ but they had to go with AJH/SYB.

The lineup could've been:
JJH/JWJ
SYB
LSS
JJH/SYB
LJH/JWJ

https://tieba.baidu.com/p/8782848452

I would really like to believe that this was not done intentionally, for example, for some political reasons, but because of the late time - the referee’s clock was already 21-15...

well, i'm sure all the guys sitting there and are VIPs, would know how long table tennis matches would be, and if you only start a teams match of 15 games at 7pm, and 9:15pm is "Late" you really have a planning problem. (3-0 is easily 30 mins, so 15 games can easily be 150 mins)

Since none of the 7pm matches played on that day, why not start 6:30pm if you want to schedule in a ceremony at say 9pm.
there are so many solutions one can think of.

I also do not think it is political, I just think it is poor planning, just like the entire build up. Which is a great pity.

To add insult to injury, even the Korean media describes that game from Hayata as a "fortune". Despite the injuries and illness bothering SYB and JJH, with the WTTC being held for the first time in South Korea next year, KTTA still managed to turn this "useless" tournament into a springboard to get their players up to speed and can't thank those associations enough for making light of it.

A big shout-out to KTTA, JNT players (not JTTA), FFTT and FPRTM for the spectacular matches, and FRTM and USATT for the memorable moments.

(Japan was also defeated! Korean Table Tennis ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2nd Stage Victory ‘Male Morale’)
http://www.thepingpong.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=11286
The three games needed to win were completed in singles. In the women's singles, which was held in two matches, Nayoung Kim lost to Hina Hayata 1 to 2 (8-11, 11-9, 5-11), but added one game that was like a fortune, and in the next three matches, Woojin Jang defeated Tomokazu Harimoto. They took control of the game by defeating them 2-1 (9-11, 13-11, 11-9). By match 3 she was able to enter the doubles with a 5 to 4 lead. In the end, the team of Jang Woo-jin and Lim Jong-hoon, who advanced to the finals of the World Championships for the second consecutive time, won all 3 games possible in 4 matches and won 8 to 4.

(The unstoppable Korean table tennis dominates even Germany! ITTF Mixed Team World Cup leader)

However, women's doubles was an adventure even for Korea. This is because Shin Yu-bin (Korean Air) was unable to participate as she felt problems with her shoulder and back due to long-term fatigue, and Lee Si-on (Samsung Life Insurance) is playing as a new pair with Jeon Ji-hee. As expected, there was a sense of crisis as they lost the first game, but Jeon Ji-hee and Lee Si-on calmly worked together and found their way to victory. In the end, they tied their opponent at 8 in the second game and succeeded in completing the one game Korea needed until the final victory. The total score was 8 to 6, Korea's victory was confirmed.

(Well-fought Korean Table Tennis first ITTF Mixed Team World Cup, valuable runner-up finish)
http://www.thepingpong.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=11288

Korea actually had some bad news right before the final match. Jeon Ji-hee, the pillar of the women's team, suffered from sudden stomach cramps. In the end, Shin Yu-bin, who was suffering from shoulder and back pain, rushed to participate and her entire steps were distorted. The Korean bench kept the game points in the mixed doubles and the second half of the men's and women's doubles in mind, but it was not easy for the unfamiliar mixed doubles combination of right hand and right hand, which was not in normal condition, to hit the first button properly. This is why they ended up losing by a larger score than expected.

...

In the historic first tournament, Korea won all 4 matches in the 1st stage, 6 wins in the 2nd stage (including the win against Taiwan in the 1st stage), and only 1 loss, finishing in 2nd place. Following China and Korea, Japan and France came in third and fourth. The significance of Korea’s runner-up finish is quite significant. The country's status as a table tennis powerhouse was stamped by competing with the strongest China in the final match of the first tournament. It is also an important achievement to raise national interest ahead of the 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships, which will be held in Busan in February next year. The confidence of the national team players ahead of the team event in Busan has also increased.

The national team players, who performed impressively at the first mixed team World Cup, will not be able to rest afterward. Shin Yu-bin and Jeon Ji-hee of the women's national team will move to Nagoya to participate in the 'WTT Finals Women Nagoya 2023' to be held in Japan starting on the 15th, and the remaining players will participate in the 77th National Men's and Women's Table Tennis Championships, which is currently in the preliminary stages. As soon as I return to Korea, I go to Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province. Although it will be difficult for the players, fans will be able to see high-level play on the international stage in the men's and women's singles finals of the comprehensive championships, which will begin on the 13th. Indeed, table tennis continues.

Who cares about the points here? As indicated in the articles, the KNT are teeming with confidence now. Same for Harimoto.

Hirano is impressed by F. Lebrun, saying she has heard that he is very strong as of late but has only watched him in videos before and has learned a lot from watching male players up close, especially the variety of serve and 3rd ball. She hopes she contributed to the team in a small way without dropping a game in all her matches. On the XTWC, she says because it was held in China, there were a lot of spectators and the atmosphere was great and was filled with tension and entertainment for those watching, and she expects it to become an interesting tournament in future editions.

Harimoto says he gives the match against FZD a perfect score, and knowing that he could win next time has given him a lot of confidence. On the XTWC, he says the match format poses many disadvantages to strong teams.

Miwa says she wants to make use of the doubles experience gained in this tournament in singles in the future.

Hayata seems to have passed up the interview upon arrival at the airport.

without points, they didn't want to play? lol.

Re the TPE Sweden match
the noise i'm hearing from my end is, why didn't TPE walk over to Sweden and "walk out" together.
Because Sweden was also very upset over the matter.

Just imagine, when play "resumes", both ends are empty, since they dimmed the lights to continue with proceedings.

no respect yields no respect, very easy.
All these PR or big posts won't hide the fact that the tournament was very unprofessional.

WCQ shifts the blame onto SYS, saying he held his own but still wanted to respect/adhere to her ideas and thoughts, and should've stepped up to offload some of the burden.
SYS says it wasn't that they played badly, per se, but they didn't prepare enough when it comes to understanding of and adapting to the opposing pair, especially in G3 when she made some unforced errors at clutch moments.
WMY spoke very little of the WS (poor Hayata) but much more on the WD, saying they'd put in a lot of efforts before the match as the opposing pair is very solid and unique.
FZD says his performance in the MS is worth reviewing and it wasn't like he was slow to start, but that he was on the slow side to adapt after trailing. It wasn't until G3 when it started to get better, and that his capability in this short match format is a little poor.
CM says she knew it would be a difficult scenario if the match reached the WD, but she and WMY were well-prepared and well-communicated and remained firm and went through with the game plan.
ML says the MD was made easier with his teammates building a 7-5 lead despite the first time playing with WCQ in this World Cup, that the atmosphere was tense and he is glad they played well in their first MD match.

Harimoto says he played better than he did at WTTC 2022. A lot of the things he's been working on this year were carried out in the match and he never thought he could beat him. He wanted to win in 3 straight games but he knew it wasn't that simple. A win is a win but still the match is worth another look.

Hayata says she was a little antsy when playing WMY and so she made a lot of errors when attacking and she hopes to stay in the point longer next time and play with more patience.

The dude who has extended little respect in both threads here and over at Mytt is talking about respect here.

PR, PR, PR. Let's talk PR here. Where is the respect when you keep referring to the team as Taiwan instead of Chinese Taipei when 54.8% (5.77 mi out of 11.4 mi) of the people in Taiwan who voted in the 2018 referendum prefer to compete under the name Chinese Taipei? Only 4 of 22 administrative regions barely got more than 50% of Yes. The green camp tried again in 2022 and needless to say it didn't get anywhere. And unlike what you hinted at, it was the ROC that insisted on competing under Chinese Taipei at first, which was a compromise as the PRC actually wanted Taipei, China instead (like Hong Kong, China and Macau, China) but out of respect still observes the term Chinese Taipei for the most part. In addition, it was the IOC (poor indigenous people of Taiwan didn't have a say) that forced the team to compete under Taiwan at first after the ROC lost the seat at the UN but the players actually protested (see the picture) and even refused to compete in subsequent editions.

For the curious minds, see the clip in which, Tsai Ing-Wen, the current president of ROC (affiliated with the green camp until 11/2022) claimed to be Chinese and Taiwanese and brought up by Chinese textbooks and Chinese education and there was nothing wrong about it

What are you smoking again?
so when someone questions you, you get messed up in the head?
read for yourself on what you are typing and that you are defending mediocre and finding that the award ceremony break is very acceptable??

Trying to hyperlink half the internet is just you, but bringing in politics is what? makes you Zeiopedia and what??

You the one that shares that JNT pulled out and CTTA threaten JTTA and you also the one that showed everyone here that JNT is a good kid now and listening to CTTA and now all "PR" is only talking about good stuff.
I'm sure all the good news will override the embarrassing build up and closing, right? lol.

You need to go take a cold shower and clear your head and pray you don't get banned again for bringing politics into TTD.
Today's world, people are really more supportive of Taiwan, so I'm not sure what you are trying to do with your useless post. other than seeking ban, I can't think of any other purpose of it.

and the sad part of the "vote" of playing under the name of Taiwan or under Chinese Taipei, since I'm in the circle of national players..... It was a very sad sight....
Sports people were begging (in public) for people not to vote for "Taiwan" and vote for "Chinese Taipei", as we all know what would happen (back then) - no one (sports people) could play international any more as there is a very big bully that would cause a lot of political harm and sports people would be the first to suffer......

It was a very sad phase for sports people, all this because PRC feels they can claim the rights to Taiwan, due to earlier Chinese dynasties having the rights to Taiwan. But that is politics and is beyond any sports people.
Think about it, can the Italians claim most of Europe and western Asia based on the roman empire map too lol.
Remember PRC is claiming lands from India, Vietnam, Japan, Philippines and many other, however Taiwan is getting the bigger spotlight.

if you want to be in a politics forum, then you in the wrong place.
Its about sports and if you can't get sympathy, at lease have same empathy.
I touched a little bit of politics as because sports people need to be silent to be able to play sports internationally. It is sad truth.

Once again, don't waste my time like you did with TensorBackhand and DukeGaGa where you were the very person who brought up politics.

A rose by any other name still smell just as sweet. In this vein, let's name her

That lil'island next to the Motherland.

OK? Everyone Happy?
Apparently sitting on the fence (policy of deliberate ambiguity) doesn't sit well with either sides when Ko Wen-Je, who announced his presidential candidacy a few weeks ago, offered his view on the cultural, economical, and political definitions of Chinese 4 years ago.

So, how does one walk away with lots of points?
Play singles over doubles?
Seems like WMY, CM, ML, FZD points came from singles

Overall, every player is very happy (expect for the ones earning 0 or 1 points per day lol)

Out of curiosity, where did you get the breakdown of points from?

"Ranking points will be distributed among players based on their team’s final position in the event, played in a round-robin format. The winning team will secure a total of 1,000 World Ranking points, while the second-ranked team will earn 700 points. Teams placing 3rd and 4th will receive 350 points, those ranked 5th to 8th will get 175 points, and teams placed 9th to 18th will be awarded 20 points."

Didn't Korea come in 2nd hence earned 700 pts to be shared among the 8 players? Based on what I am seeing, Jang Woojin 48 + Lim Jonghood 58 + Lee Sangsu 48 + An Jaehyun 48 + Shin Yubin 19 + JJH 77 = 298 pts. There are still 402 pts unaccounted for. Unless KNT is giving such a disproportionate share to Kim Nayeong and Lee Zion?

Likewise for China, they should have won 1,000 pts. The top 3 men and women only add up to 639 pts. Not sure if it makes sense to award the remaining 361 pts to LGY and WYD who barely did anything.

From ITTF Ranking page.

Here is a double check and you are right. someone is stealing points from the players lol

FZD 14% / 139 points
WCQ 3% / 28 points
ML 13% / 125 points
LGY 0% / 0 points
SYS 4% / 42 points
WMY 22% / 222points
CM 8% / 83 points
WYD 0% / 0 points

Total 64% / 639

Guess what, the above is individual (singles) only

so, other points are as follows:

XD:
WCQ/SYS 24% / 236 points
LGY/WMY 4% / 40 points

WD:
CM/WMY 3% / 28
WYD/SYS 1% / 14 (how 1% is 14 points? I don't know)

MD:
ML/WCQ 1% / 14

so the above 5 is 33% / 332, so making a total of 97% and 971 points
Not quite sure where the missing 3% or 29 points went.

So it is clear - if you have some "non-normal" pairing, then the paring + wr points is pretty much close to useless.
