Kim Nayeong has grown even taller now. No wonder she has been struggling since last year.

And WMY serves into the net on the very first point of the game.

Before I forget. Wu Jingping has posted his comments on FZD's matches against F. Lebrun and Harimoto. He also posted a short clip on Lebrun's BH.

昨天认真看了一下小胖对法国直板横打运动员勒布伦的比赛。我深感勒布伦的比赛意识和技术能力远在我们同类打法运动员之上,非常符合我的训练理念。我很想了解他是怎么做到的。[偷笑]
Yesterday, I carefully watched the match between Xiaopang and the French penhold RPB player Lebrun. I deeply feel that Lebrun's competition awareness and technical ability are far superior to our players with a similar playing style, and it is very consistent with my training philosophy. I'd love to know how he does it. [snicker emoji]

Hirano has essentially the same point/game ratio whether stage 1 and stage 2 are counted separately or together. No wonder she is on cloud nine at the award ceremony (75% of the points Hayata gets at 50% of the matches).

Overall, Japan turns out to get the most out of the tournament. Harimoto siblings, Togami, Hirano and Kihara have all gotten a confidence boost, especially the first 3. Hayata, with that long face on the last day, must feel like she was that missing 3rd female player who nearly caused the 5 above to miss out on this golden opportunity, all the while appearing opportunistic. Ironically, China's strong-arm response almost feels like their commitment to the Wolf-Raising Plan now.

Idk why SK is playing Kim that much, she's clearly not ready for the senior level yet. Her shot quality is just not there. It's not really an experience or exposure issue for her, it's a skill issue. That's especially true for her BH flick, so slow and and high and it's an easy kill from both wings on the senior level. I think she needs at least another year practicing how to generate quality with every shot before she can really compete.

Watched the Jang Woo-jin vs Harimoto match last night and can't believe how fast Jang was. Like the man was outplayed multiple times, but gets from one wide corner to the other within a second and still gets off dangerous attacking shots.
Easily the fastest player with only his compatriots coming close.

People said the same thing when they played Shin Yubin early as well. Ultimately you can't say how best to develop a player until you have developed a few. Or you say what frame work is being violated. Exposing young talents to senior play is common. She also took a game off Hayata. And if she has resilience, her struggles will inspire her.

That says more about Hayata's current form than Kim's play IMO. I wasn't back in TT when Shin was younger, so can't say how she played back then, but what Kim lacks is practice, not experience. I don't think playing higher level competition would hurt her development, but I don't think it'd help at this point. I wonder why Joo Cheonhui didn't come. She's someone who appears to be technically ready and just needs more experience.

Not sure how come no one is talking about it yet on TTD

So while Sweden versus Chinese Taipei was still in action, ITTF decided to start the award ceremony.
It has left a bad taste with many people, as they didn't respect a "live" match.
Not just Taiwanese or European are disgusted, but quite a few Chinese was shocked that while waiting for the last match (WD), the light dimmed and then the award ceremony started... people where like..what the heck?

match halted at 1h50 and resume at 2h20 (yes, a 30 min break)

This is the first time I saw a major tournament (world cup), that is like a "local market tournament", where you can just pause live matches for what ever reasons

I was wondering about this but I didn't follow up on my initial thoughts. This is ridiculous.

maybe it is a treatment you get when you rest your main players at home and bring 2nd string team?
so 2nd class citizen treatment

at first I thought it was a mistake, as they maybe thought 7-5 was 8-5

but after the men's double, the umpires went to speak to both teams and told them, we going to halt play for 30 mins for the award ceremony and everyone cleared the bench area (umpires was first to leave the playing area.....)
First time ever seeing this.
I've seen power failures, where people actually wait in the playing area to get back, but not a "lets pause" for CNT to have some stage time

Joo is still going through the nationalization process in Korea which requires her to wait 3 years. before she is eligible to play the Olympics so she will end up missing the Olympics. Maybe there are other reasons, but they probably took the players who are a part of their current Olympics preparation.

It's actually interesting question indeed why Joo didn't pitch.

I think this mixed team is clear - you need to have strong female players.
The XD in the front is just too important, and then you get WS, so out of the first 9, you are reliant on having strong female players to lead to a strong position going into the doubles.

Also, will this increase "doubles" training going forward?
I actually recorded a lot of doubles training by pros recently. I should start sharing how doubles training are done behind the scene. Pure art I tell you!

I would really like to believe that this was not done intentionally, for example, for some political reasons, but because of the late time - the referee’s clock was already 21-15...
