100% agree with this. No point beating your own teammates in trials when you can’t beat players outside of China. If I was a selector for the CNT I would pick players who have a good win record against players outside of China.

His loss was his punishment for not doing the right thing (letting Sora play). As Gozo would say, be a man and do the right thing!

Rough loss for Diaz. Had 5 game points againt Zeng in the 5th game and ended up losing it to go down 2-3. Huge momentum swing that she couldn't recover from. Some pretty good rallies in that one too.

Huge coaching failure in the Gauzy / LGY match. Game 3 LGY was up 8-1 and they let Gauzy get the score to 9-8 before finally calling a timeout. I know it's only game 3 of BO7 but that feels like malpractice.

Pavade was out of everything possible at the last french nationals, loosing to a 14 years old NGZ playing with SP. And now she's a solid top 20 player again. Gauzy made his worst nationals since ... I can't remember ! but on the WTT circus he's always putting the fire mode ON.

It has to do with psychology, the french notorious big players are way more trusted than the CNT athletes by their staff. I once posted a video about the Davis Cup France won vs the USA in 1991, with Yannick Noah choosing Henri Leconte instead of so-called better players at that moment. Leconte was just recovering from a back injury and was out of order really since months. They did warm ups right before the event, only 2/3 days before the final in Lyon, and Leconte was actually killing everyone on those 2/3 days.
